I still don't understand the rationale for the so called visa ban, which looks awfully lot like a backdoor attempt at a Muslim ban. There is no evidence that refugees from these countries are any more violent than anyone else. You are far more likely to be killed by heart disease, stroke, or cancer than you are by terrorism. If the goal is to extend American lifespan, then things like progressive economic policies that create good paying jobs, preventative health care, encouraging healthy living, and protecting food, safety, and environmental standards would be a lot more effective.

If you guys met some of these Muslims and got to know them, you would probably find out that they're not filled with hate, most of them are just normal people trying to get by like anyone else. Most of them are only Muslim because that was the culture they were born into. If you were born into that culture, you would be Muslim too. No one questions there are problems with violent jihadism in Islam. But to take a statistically miniscule minority and give them undue weight when treating a religion of 2 billion people is absurd. It's a symptom of the Alt Right's need to whip up tribalism and create an Other to be at war with all the time. It's all out of proportion, makes us look bad, and is bad for the national interest.

Just trolling, though.  Hard not to in a thread such as this.

Hey, weren't you they guy who wanted to go all nazi on us and demand in the debate board that everyone "add something" to the discussion, or you'd threaten to delete their posts?  I know that this isn't that board, but assuming you were serious in that thread, when did you become Mr. Hyde?

I lay awake at night fearing Bannon is going to send his goons on a raid. That is if he hasn't already poisoned the water bottle I leave on my desk. I wash it the best I can, but I fear that may be not enough to resist his tricks.

-Bannon truly is one of the best parts of the Trump administration, doubling the heart rate of the typical establishment hack.

Home invasions are very rare, therefore nobody should be allowed to lock their door at night.

The laughable part is that most visa ban supporters probably live in rural backwater areas that will never get targeted for an attack... as opposed to major cities where it is actually a remote possibility.

-More people voted for Trump in Los Angeles County than Mississippi.

No, I don't (EO supporter). But after the Paris/Copenhagen attacks I did stand in synagogue inadvertently fearing an attack and wondering whether going to the service was really worth the risk.

But regardless, it's an absurd question. Just like a homeowner has the right to lock their doors, a nation is allowed to lock its borders. Not because it hates the people outside, but because it loves the people inside. I am allowed to have certain criteria for people entering my house. A nation is and should be allowed to have certain criteria for people entering their homeland.

I actually was targeted for killing by a Muslim. In August of 2006 I boarded a flight from England to the US. We sat on the tarmac at Gatwick for 5 hours. Eventually we were allowed off the plane and back into the terminal so we could wait there, where we could walk around, purchase snacks, etc. Finally we were re-boarded and told that a man had been taken off the flight for having been found to be carrying liquid explosives.

It turned out my flight was one of those targeted in the transatlantic aircraft plot. Years later I heard on the radio that they had finally tried and convicted the guy they took off my plane, and I was happy to hear it. But I never lost sleep over it.

So I voted No to your silly poll. And I support the ban.

Hah, come on E Harding. I wouldn't be surprised if more people voted for Castle in LA county than voted for Trump in Mississippi, simply due to the population size differences!

-Somebody oughta make good cartograms of the Dem and GOP votes seperately.
