Do you want a manned Mars mission asap, or do you prefer better funding for other projects? Personally, this has always been a pet peeve of mine. Landing people on Mars seems like a gigantic waste of money, yet it always captures the most attention. We could save so, sooo much money by just creating even more advanced drones and sending them there to do our bidding. Ditto for other trips like collecting samples from maybe Europa or Titan, even if those may be a while off yet. Hell, I'd rather build a gigantic liquid metal telescope on the Moon, which would be a boon to astronomers as we would see further into space as ever before, which would include finding oodles of new planets. We could do so much more with the massive amounts of money spent on a manned mission.

Also, opinion of girls? Would you ever go on a date with a voluptuous vixen? Tongue

One more - why retromike?

1. No I want Martian human inhabitants! But I like the idea of humans + drones. Also, with in situ resource utilization, the costs can be drastically reduced by using the resources that are already on Mars instead of delivering them.

2. Girls are icky! JK, I suppose they are okay. I have very few friends who are girls, and in the past 12 months I've hung out with a girl... twice I believe. I once went 4 years without hanging out with a female non-relative outside of work or school. I don't discriminate though, but I've been told that I don't know how to speak to women normally and that I come off as cold and hyper-masculine with them. So no I would not go out on a date, but my alter ego STRAIGHT MIKE would Wink

3. "Retro" because there are a lot of things in the past, mostly cultural things, that I like better than the present. I feel that standards, manners, and entertainment were better then, and people are far too tolerant of letting themselves look like circus sideshow performers these days. I miss when ppl would dress up to go on a plane, or write letters to each other, or speak more formally. I suppose I'm a leftist on economic issues, social issues are split ideologically by issue, but culturally I am conservative (With of course the exception of sexuality, which I don't understand people are so uptight about). I just that my values of morality are out of sync with most people's values.
