G'day,

the AFIP is re-forming. Yay!

We will still have an emphasis on social equality of opportunity-ie, healthcare and stuff-but issues like abortion we'll steer clear of. We'll only be involved in issues governments SHOULD effect-so we'll be largely staying out of the economy. Policy is yet to be determined, but if your PC scores are between -3 and +3 on economics, and +2 and -5 on social issues, I suggest you consider joining.

Note-membership is not automatic; one of the problems with the original afip was members who were too far from the intended ideology joined. If you join the AFIP, please note that whilst discussion is very strongly encouraged, it will not be allowed to be swamped by any quadrant or ideological group; it will, however, be concerned with good governance and policy that may come from any quadrant.

I've had a conversaton with supersoulty about his views on a new afip. In it, I think I laiod out the AFIP's views better then in that first post. Here it is:

Hughento Veesa: thar ye goe
supersoulty: I'll consider, but personally, I want a party that takes stands on those issues
Hughento Veesa: my view is that issues like abortion are going nowhere
Hughento Veesa: what we should be focussing on is stuff we really can do
supersoulty: Well, you shyed away from the economy too, so what does that leave?
Hughento Veesa: pragmatism :-)
Hughento Veesa: we look at an issue, determine what we feel should be done, see if it's possible; if it is do it
Hughento Veesa: if it's not, work towards the next best thing
supersoulty: Sounds like something I would learn to hate real fast.
Hughento Veesa: myeh
Hughento Veesa: basically, it's something that ignores ideology and focuses on reality
Hughento Veesa: whats best for atlasia, how do we do it?

---------------------------

our ideology is that we don't really have an ideology, we just want to work for a better atlasia. We need people who are willing and want to debate issues as they arise, who want to make atlasia a better place, and who are prepared to make decisions that others are not. We aren't aiming to run any presidential candidates or anything, but we do want to ensure that there is a truly moderate voice on every issue, and not one that is pre-biased towards any overreaching ideology.

We will consider issues, and other parties policies. I don't expect us to become a big group, but I am confident that our policies will be well regarded, and our endorsements of other parties policies will be respected. If nothing else, I hope the AFIP improves the other parties. At worst, we'll disintergrate or whatever, but we owe it to atlasia to give it a shot. So who's up for being an AFIPper?

My philosophy is to stay independent of any party on principle, largely because they're all pointless and they usually suck.  Sorry Hugh, but I'm out.

I'm a bit more to the left economically than the party, but...would I be welcome if I wanted to join?
