The police chief didn't need to resign. The officer needs to resign.

it would be hard to get murder to stick, negligent homicide/manslaughter would be my guess....or whatever the equivalent in MN is, some states are weird with law words.

It really depends on what his partner says in this case. Why were all three cameras off?

The other officer has said all he knows.  He was driving, they pulled up. The victim came up to the side of car and began talking to him. There was a lout noise from somewhere close by and Noor shot, ACROSS HIS PARTNER, through the squad car's door.

I don't know why the cameras were off or what the procedures are for cameras in that department.  I'm very much a pro-camera on cops kind of guy, not sure why cops aren't, since they almost always show the cop in the right.  Yes, I'm aware that many of the ones we see do NOT show the cops in a good light, but that's because we only see the ones that are questionable.

With this guy's previous issues (3 complaints in 2 years, 2 still under investigation, including an assault against a woman)...it's pretty clear this butt nugget should probably be in jail.  Forever.

I have little doubt that Mike Freeman will aggressively pursue charges, he's up in 2018 and if he doesn't he's going to both lose big time amongst both urban liberals and conservatives (and yes there are quite a few conservatives in the jurisdiction. Remember he's the Hennepin County Attorney, not Minneapolis Attorney.)

The Minneapolis PD has required that cameras be turned on when responding to any such call since last year, and I'd be willing to wager that any cop who shot across his partner even if no one was killed or even hit would be in HUGE trouble, although if no one was killed probably not criminal charges but just being fired from the force. But regardless, this is kind of a slam dunk, if Freeman doesn't charge or loses this case he's completely screwed.

The sad thing is, it's a catch 22.

If there's an inadequate response, it'll only be more proof nothing ever happens.

If there is a big response, it'll merely be proof that big things only happen when white women are shot
by black immigrants.

There's truly no possible good outcome.
