Is this person what passes in the GOP for an acceptable pick for that office? This isn't even "pro-business" at this point. It's just blatant regulatory capture of the worst kind.

If Republicans didn't want people dumping on them as being the party of the plutocrats and corporations, maybe they shouldn't be stacking the government with these kinds of people. I mean for gods sakes, this is the best that could be done?

Yeah this is scummy. Regulatory capture is a problem and the department of education is no exception. Tony Miller, one of Obama's DoEd officials was involved in a decision to lower capital requirements for purchasing for profit colleges, and then retired to an equity firm that proceeded to then buy the University of phoenix. I dont think the DoEd should exist, but as long as it does it should not be staffed by sharks like Schmoke or Miller.
