This was of course a really bad and poorly thought out idea that would've only hurt non-whites (both from increased Covid infections and harassment.) The idea was that was a valid exemption if a non-white person feared racist stereotypes would be perpetuated by being masked as that's usually seen as a threatening thing but in reality this would just draw MORE attention to non-masked non-white people especially if they tried to excuse it on those grounds. Hence why non-white community leaders begged the commission to reverse it.

Stupid move by the county that would've helped no one.
