Ladies and Gentlemen, Friends ad Colleagues,

First, of all I’d like to thank you for your attendance this evening. It is nothing but a pleasure to Lucy and I that we are your hosts this evening and we thank you for your attendance

It seems quite a long time ago that I announced my decision to run for District 4 Senator back in November and there is no doubt in my mind that is, by far, the most important decision I’ve ever made in my life. Furthermore, I did it for the right reasons, to serve, and to represent, District 4 in the Atlasian Senate to the best of my ability. I felt that it was of vital importance that the District had a strong voice in Nyman. As far as my current term goes, I’ve enjoyed it every step of the way Smiley

When I ran for the Senate, I campaigned as a consensus building pragmatist, who sought to forge close working relationships with fellow senators irrespective of partisan ties and ideological differences. I’m pleased to say that this is exactly what has been achieved because it is when senators work together in the mutual interests of our great nation that government is at its best. I’d now like to pay tribute to the Twelfth Senate

When the Twelfth Senate was inaugurated on the 3rd March, it became clear then that it had to be a both efficient and effective Senate given the shear volume of legislation brought forward from the Eleventh Senate, not to mention the fact that the first week was predominantly occupied with confirmation hearings and votes; and that the second week was wholly devoted to the Preliminary Budget. Given those facts, I applaud my fellow senators for their efficiency and effectiveness

As far as my own role in Senate business goes, not only have I sought to vote on legislation but also I’ve sought to account to my electorate by explaining my reasons for voting as I have on a plethora of legislation. I’d like to reaffirm that I will continue to do so for the whole duration of my being a senator. I have introduced my Modified Welfare Reform Bill, which is now on the floor of the Senate, which rest assured is only the tip of the iceberg and you can look forward to more legislative initiatives on my part. I will continue to work with fellow senators, who share my vision for a greater Atlasia

May I take this opportunity to thank all of you, who endorsed my re-election campaign, and, last, but by means least, all of the District 4 voters who voted for me

While, I have always confident, and upbeat, about my re-election chances, I must say that the extent of my victory, over former Senator Mike Naso, has left Lucy and I quite overwhelmed. In fact, I have to ask her to pinch me every now and again, as to reassure me that I’m not living in some dreamland Grin. Nevertheless, my victory must be one of the greatest landslides in Atlasian electoral history and, for that, I am deeply appreciative. Nevertheless, I must admit that I, initially, thought that redistricting, and the loss of Virginia, had somewhat weakened my chances of re-election (40% of my December vote came from Virginia); but, as the result shows, this had no detrimental impact whatsoever. I’d like to reassure the people of Virginia that I will continue to be a strong voice on their behalf for the remainder of the Twelfth Senate

May I also take this opportunity to extend my personal congratulations to, my fellow Christian Democrat, Senator-elect Virginian87, on his election in District 2; and to Senator Gabu, on his re-election in District 5. I extend my best wishes to their opponents

It would seem that we have two tied-races between Senator Earl Andrew Washburn and Nixon Now in District 1 and between ilikeverin and PBrunsel in District 3. I wish all four candidates well in the upcoming weekends run-off elections

Given the extent of my victory I gather that for some of you this might be a sure sign that I might be contemplating a presidential run; however, I must go on the record and state that I will not be running for President in June. It is my intention to serve a full term serving, and representing, District 4 in the Atlasian Senate. That said, if any June presidential hopeful were to approach me to be their running mate, I’d give it due consideration

Once again, I’d like to thank you for your attendance this evening and extend my thanks to all those who voted for me

God Bless you all and God Bless Atlasia,

Dave ‘Hawk’

Of course, the fact that your opponent was Mike Naso didn't hurt.  Congratulations on your re-election. Grin
