The current Governor is a Republican. Clark flirted with a run for Governor in 2002, but decided against it.

He wasn't a very effective campaigner nor did he seem very knowlegable about domestic issues.

the current Gov. is term-limited anyway. I say go for it. He was my pick in the primaries and I'd love to see him back.

The advantage with Clark is that he didn’t really develop much in the way of domestic polices even when he was running for the nomination…

…the main reason for his defeat was primarily that he billed himself as a moderate/ electable mirror to Howard Dean with the assumption that Kerry was a non-factor. In the end Kerry was able to marginalise Clark by claiming to be the “real deal” with both military and senatorial experience that highlighted Clark’s lack of political experience and at the same time Edwards momentum coming out of Iowa and South Carolina really sealed Clark fate… but ultimately Dean’s implosion and Kerry Lazarus like recovery was what did for Clark he ended up having to fight a campaign his team had never really prepared for.

If he ran for Governor in AR he would have a good shot, depending on who the GOP nominated (the lieutenant Governor Win Rockefeller would be one possibility), there would be plenty of aid that the DNC would be willing to give him and he could probably get together plenty of his campaign team from his primary run. So he’d definitely be a strong candidate and could probably win though it would be a very competive race if Lincoln ran she’d walk it, but she may have her eyes set on the Presidency by then and she was only re-elected this year so I doubt she’d run.

So a Clark vs. Rockefeller race would be competitive but would be a tough for both Clark… just keep Michael Moore the hell away!  I agree with Andrew though it would be very interesting to watch.
