Fortunately, nobody in the United States takes Zogby seriously anymore, but foreign media still occasionally pay attention to him.

I just finished watchng an interview with Zogby on The Canadian Broadbasting Corporation up here in Canada. (The CBC is the taxpayer funded national TV network in Canada and the defacto official organ of the Canadian political Left)

Zogby says he now sees just 2 seats the Dems pick up in the Senate, and that the final House result will be "very close" to see who is Speaker.

That would make it "Majority Leader Ried" and "Speaker Pelosi" then....

Howdy back!

Been too busy to follow the races carefully, busy ingesting polling data tonight to try to figure out who is gonna win.

This thing is getting very very interesting at the end Smiley

I don't understand how the title of this thread makes sense.

It's a joke.  No one looks very kindly on Zogby.

And good to see you, Vorlon Smiley

I don't understand how the title of this thread makes sense.

Mr. Zogby's polls have been just a tad erratic for the past few years... Smiley

Hardcore politicos on both sides agree on very little, but that Zogby's polls are more suitable for lining bird cages that predicting elections is one of the few consistent threads of bipartisan agreement.

I don't understand how the title of this thread makes sense.

In 2004, Zogby's polls were ridiculously biased towards the Democrats and it was a common joke that whenever Zogby predicted the Democrats would win, they probably wouldn't.

Now in 2006, Zogby seems to be biased towards the Republicans, and, well, here's his prediction.

Actually, the one time I can ever remember Zogby being horribly biased towards the Republicans was 1996 and that's the one election he nailed (moreso than 2000).

Still, the point is well-taken.   Tongue

NovHACK is predicting that the Dems will only net +2 in the Senate as well. Hilarious really.

Zogby has always been a tad erratic... he got lucky a few times and managed to hype himself a reputation.

Nobody has taken him seriously in quite a while.

He's constantly being quoted in Swedish media, sadly. The only pollster in America that Swedish journalists refer to, actually.

And I thought Zogby's claim to fame was based on being the only one to accurately predict the Republican 1994 landslide?

I don't think Zogby predicted that race at all.

Zogby's claim to fame was nailing 1996 (as did Battleground), and to a lesser extent, 2000.

Vorlon, it's been two years and it's great to read you again.  I'm not as happy as I was two years ago though.

Today the GOP will be forced to return to it's roots.

It is a needed cleaning of the Party's soul.

I could happily support the 1994 GOP revolution.  That revolution is dead and buried. - I don't recognize the party in power anymore.

The GOP will take a good sized hit today because, well, they deserve to.

The Democrats coming in today for the first time are far more rational and moderate than the lunitic fringe types in the current Democratic leadership.

The Dems will get limited hands on some of the levers of power, and they will behave responsibly, or not.

It they moderate and demostrate they deserve to govern, they wil be rewarded - at worst the GOP will take a time out and get back to being, well, Republicans.

Tell me about it; I've voting for Fattah just to drive up D numbers nationally (and no, if I lived in Bucks County, I wouldn't be doing that.

There is one thing, however, that we should look at, African American turnout.  There has not been a major effort to energize the Black community, by the Democrats.  With Steele in MD, this might be a real portent for the future.

I'll get at least one precinct's result by 3:00 PM.

Turnout, my precinct, 11th Ward, Phila, 96% African American, turnout, just under 15%.

What is it normally in a mid-term?

It's running about normal, but there has no turnout increase in this solid Democratic base, at least here (and this is Rendell's home town).
