US Senate Race
We asked Oregon voters who they would vote for in a 3-way US Senate race. Republican Gordon Smith garnered the most support, with 38 percent, followed by Democrat Jeff Merkley at 19 percent, and Independent John Frohnmayer at 7 percent. One-third (35 percent) remained undecided, including 34 percent of Democrats as well as 47 percent of unaffiliated and other-party voters.
While most Republicans support Smith (63 percent), many are undecided (31 percent). Merkley, who announced his candidacy a week before the poll on August 3rd, begins his campaign with the support of just 34 percent of Democrats. Many Democrats are also undecided (34 percent), but 21 percent currently favor Smith.
