I don’t know if Democrats should vote for McCain, but they should hope for a victory by him. If Clinton wins, you all are stuck with her until 2016 as a nominee most likely, and as soon as she screws something up, who will get the blame? Liberals, meaning that a Hillary presidency could actually really damage the progressive movement. If you get McCain in there you have a better chance at getting a real progressive in there after his term.

You mean having Obama pull a Ronald Reagan by losing the nomination, having the establishment Dem get beaten and then having McCain become the next Jimmy Carter? I mean, a second president in a row from an incumbent party usually has a hard time representing their movements. Since In 200 years, there has never been a reelected president succeded by another reelected president from the same party. (Truman, Coolidge and Johnson were never re-elected)

Probably Hillary. If McCain wins in 2008, he'll serve four years and then hand over the Presidency to Mark Sanford. If Sanford wins in 2012, Democrats could be shut out of the White House until 2020.

20 years out of office, even when the opposition s up? Last time the opposition fuced up, we got 20 years IN office. Are we sure we don't want to retire our party and reorganize?

McCain. Even if you're just looking at it from a "strength of the party" perspective, Clinton would be a disaster for the Democrats, not only in the Presidential election, but in the mid-term elections to the House and Senate as well as in elections in Republican-leaning House and Senate seats the Democrats need to hold or win in 2008.

That's an excellent point. Verily, your view is too rational and politically prudent for the Clintons to understand. As we both know, Bill didn't lift a finger for Democratic Congressional candidates in 1996. He could've used that election as a way to redeem himself politically after his failed first two years; instead, he only focused on winning 50% of the vote.

2010 matters for the farm team, our control of redistricting, governorships, and House and Senate seats. Under President Hillary,  all five of those will suffer.

Yes. Like I said, Clinton could put the Democratic Party in real trouble.
