...in 2014.

I just saw it on Hardball. They also played a clip of "Sir Charles" stating that he gets sick everytime he hears the word "conservative" because conservatives are just "fake Christians."

Yeah, he'll do well.

I guess he actually has bought a house there now so by 2014 he can claim residency for enough time.

Should be intersting to see him lose.

I'd love to see him win.  As a fan of the NBA, it would be spectacular to see a HOF'er as a Governor.

Every member of the Dream Team should run for political office someday.

He's been saying that he'll run for Governor for years. I'll believe it when I see it.

What party?

Though he's black, rich people usually vote Republican.

Operative word bolded. Rich blacks, few and far between, are only marginally less Democratic than blacks as a whole.

Why is it a gaffe? He said what he believes. It wasn't a mistake or a "macaca moment" like George Allen had. Saying something you may disagree with doesn't make it a gaffe.

I'm pretty sure this is a guy who once said he "hates all animals". He's a moron but at least the debates would be funny.

I'm pretty sure Barkley was a Republican a few years ago but he changed over to an independent.

Barkley spoke for many years of his Republican Party affiliation. In 1995, he considered running as a Republican candidate for Alabama's governorship in the 1998 election.[50] However, in 2006, he altered his political stance and stated:
I was a Republican until they lost their minds, "The word 'conservative' means 'discriminatory,' practically. It's a form of political discrimination. What do the Republicans run on? Against gay marriage and for a war that makes no sense. A war that was based on faulty intelligence. That's all they ever talk about. That and immigration. Another discriminatory argument for political gain.

So yeah, not anymore.
