Since I posted the Senate list in another thread, I thought I'd post the list of current competitiors for the Alaska House seat.

This from the Alaska Division of Elections:  http://www.elections.state.ak.us/cand08p.php
United States Representative
     Diane E. Benson (Democrat)
     Ethan A. Berkowitz (Democrat)
     Gabrielle LeDoux (Republican)
     Jake Metcalfe (Democrat)
Dae Miles (Libertarian) - DENIED: Incomplete paperwork
     Sean R. Parnell (Republican)

I believe Jake Metcalfe has withdrawn.

Sean Parnell is the current Lieutenant Governor under a wildly popular Governor, and should provide some stiff competition in the up-coming primary.

Interesting...  After posting this, I realized that Don Young doesn't even appear on the Division of Elections candidate list.  It is an "unofficial list" at this point.  The filing deadline is June 2nd.

I've seen some Don Young commercials on TV, so I know he is running.

CQ had this as a democrat-leaning race last time I checked.

Just to clarify...  The primary is scheduled for August 26th.  To participate as a candidate in the primary, any "major party" candidates have to file by June 2nd.  I take "major party" to mean the 4 regonized political parties in AK - Republican, Democratic, Libertarian and Alaskan Independence.  Non-major party candidates that do not participate in a primary can wait as late as August 26th to file and appear on the general election ballot.

My mistake. I was reading that filing closes for third parties in August.

I like Gabrielle LaDoux, but Parnell is the only one strong enough to win this for honest Republicans.

So they're assuming Young to pull it out in the Primary?

It's official - Don Young filed the paperwork for his re-election bid on Thursday.
