I always considered the "gifted" kids to be in the same class as the "special" kids.
Someone's jealous Smiley

Anyway, yeah but I think the G&T program was retarded, I failed the test twice being logical and then decided to write the most retarded thing I could think of, which of course passed.  Most of the kids in my honors & AP classes now were not in G&T, and for those that passed the test the first time, one is left back and a few others are doing terrible.

Sounds like your program was run by idiots. I did know one guy who was in the gifted program in my elementary school who had a 1400/1600 on his SATs and couldn't get into a good college because his grades were crap - he turned into quite the lazy bum towards the end and screwed himself over.
That happens more than you'd think, that even goes for me.  I'm ranked Top 20 in my class, but I'd be Top 10 if I didn't slack off.  It's just really, really extreme for some people, especially if they don't have a good support system.

AIS-R didn't have one in Riyadh because they knew all the Arab parents would call the school and call a Jewish conspiracy against Palestine if their little darlings didn't get into such a program.

So what they did is give everybody an award every year for something. Everybody got "Student of the Week" once, and everybody got an award in June for being "special".

I'm not sure CB has one, though I doubt it. There is an unofficial nerd club, though, which I'm a proud member of.

Oh my yes, though of course in my semi-rural school this merely meant I neither kicked sh**t nor smoked sh**t.

But to be clear, we did not have a gifted program.  I was just held up as 'the smartest kid in school' my entire career, and made a fuss of by my teachers, the principle, etc.  No wonder I never got laid.

no.  actually i dont even think any of my schools had such a program.

the closest i ever got to being gifted was one day in high school schoo my english teacher wanted to speak to me privately.  immediately i figured i was in trouble.  instead she tells me that im the smartest kid in the class and that im far ahead of everyone in there.  i dont know if she really believed it or was just trying to give me a morale boost.  either way, it made me feel good for a couple of days.

Sadly, I never took school real seriously.

I study more now for more things than I ever did in school, cause now I care.

yup. for 13 years. Kindergarten to 12th Grade. The program gave me a pretty big superiority complex.
