Sen. Christopher Dodd

Connecticut voters approve 51 - 34 percent of the job Sen. Christopher Dodd is doing, his lowest net approval rating ever, with a higher disapproval than his 51 - 28 percent score March 27. And 51 percent say they "definitely" or "probably" will vote to reelect him, while 39 percent say they "probably" or "definitely" won't vote for him.

A total of 62 percent of voters have read or heard "a lot" or "some" about allegations that Sen. Dodd received special treatment from Countrywide Financial on mortgages on his two homes. Voters say 59 - 32 percent the matter deserves more investigation.

"Sen. Christopher Dodd's job approval is lukewarm at best, especially given his 28 years of service in the U.S. Senate, the longest in Connecticut history," Dr. Schwartz said. "This probably is a combination of his unsuccessful presidential bid and the mortgage scandal."

Sen. Joseph Lieberman gets a 45 - 43 percent approval, down from 52 - 35 percent March 27 and his lowest score ever.

"Sen. Lieberman's approval rating has dropped below 50 percent for the first time in 14 years of polling, with nearly two-thirds of Democrats giving him low marks, probably because he is campaigning for Sen. John McCain," Dr. Schwartz said.

From June 26 - 29, Quinnipiac University surveyed 2,515 Connecticut registered voters with a margin of error of +/- 2 percentage points.

The Quinnipiac University Poll conducts public opinion surveys in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Florida, Ohio and the nation as a public service and for research.

Also, while Governor Jodi Rell still has the overwhelming support of most voters, 65%-23%, her margin has also dropped since 27th March when it was an awesome 76%-13%.

Who the hell said that?

This is what happens in CT when one guy makes a fool of himself in a presidential run and the other guy supports a Republican candidate.

I'm sure plenty of Congressmen would kill for a 51-34 approval rating...

I hope these numbers pick up.  I really like Lieberman and Dodd, and want them to stay in the Senate as long as possible.

Yeah, really.  All time personal low or not, that's hardly a terrible number to have.  Now Lieberman's on the other hand...

A new Research 2000 poll found that if Connecticut voters could vote again in the 2006 U.S. Senate race they would have elected Ned Lamont (D) over Sen. Joseph Lieberman (I), 51% to 36%, with Alan Schlesinger (R) getting 7%.

I wonder what 2012 will be like for Lieberman?  I suppose he has a relatively long time to perfect his support statewide (As we have seen, both John Kerry, Elizabeth Dole and Mitch McConnell have staged comebacks in support at home this cycle - so it is possible).  But will he try to run as a Democrat again, will he file as an Independent, will he draw a significant opponent like Rep. Chris Murphy?, or will he just retire?

I hope Lieberman retains his seat; he's one of my favorites.

I wonder what 2012 will be like for Lieberman?

I bet he retires.  Or in the chance McCain wins this year, I bet Lieberman gets a cabinet position so he'll be out of the Senate anyway.

Lieberman won't run for reelection because he won't want to be humiliated.  Serious Connecticut Democrats (like Chris Murphy) will want to move up, and against a real Democratic challenger, Lieberman's Independent bid thing won't stick.

Hell, the GOP could put a pretty good bid for Chris Murphy's seat, so that's not all bad news for them.

Who would Rell appoint if McCain picked Lieberman for the cabinet?  Dare I say Chris Shays?

Nah, she'd appoint someone like either Rob Simmons, or go with someone in the general assembly. She isnt going to want to give up a House seat for a Senate seat we may not be able to hold
