Battle of the Movies: Round 1: 12 Angry Men vs The Shining

The Dark Knight got just above 70% which is a blowout and expected for this 1 vs 16 seed match.

My dad made my mom go with him to it in theaters. She looked at the floor pretty much the whole time. HATED it.

Now this is a tough one...but I think 12 Angry Men takes the day.  Two of my favorite movies.

The Shining. Stanley Kubrick is the best director.

"Steven Spielberg dies and goes to heaven. Greeted by St. Peter, he spots a man with a thick beard, thinning hair and glasses pedaling a bicycle.

Spielberg: Isn't that Stanley Kubrick?

St. Peter: No that's God. He only thinks he's Stanley Kubrick."

I haven't seen either one in years so I'll abstain from voting in this round. They aren't exactly comparable movies anyway.

The Shining. 12 Angry Men was good, but The Shining is genius like pretty much everything Kubrick did. There's so much more going on in that movie between the characters, symbolism, camera angles, etc. You could write a whole book on it really.

Both amazing movies, but I've got to side with 12 Angry Men.

I loved The Shining...but 12 Angry Men actually means something.  It moved me.
