Nevada: $1.1bn (28.1%)
Arizona: $2.43bn (24.2%)
Alaska: $1.52bn (21%)
California: $19.64bn (18.8%)
South Carolina: $1.18bn (17.6%)
Utah: $875m (15.6%)
Colorado: $1.19bn (15.1%)

States with no gap

As I've mentioned before, since we have a mechanism in place to make mid-fiscal year budget cuts, our General Assembly has little incentive to not go ahead and use the most optimistic projection it can when writing a budget.  This year's 17.6% gap is worse than usual, but not at all unusual.

Texas is saving up money by killing retards with bricks instead of electricity.

Interesting that 5 of the top 7 are in the Southwest.  What's New Mexico looking like?

The housing bubble burst is probably the main factor in them being in the top.
