perhaps kerry should choose someone from OUTSIDE the political world (novel idea, eh?) as his running mate?  how about a corporate ceo, or a former military officer (NOT wes clark, he is a psycho, imo).

i get tired and bored with all of the  conventional ideas.  john edwards, dick gephardt....::yawn::

He might have very well considered rolling the dice and doing just that.  However, since it's so close, I'm sure he'll play it safe and make a conventional pick.

Yes but JLO isn't.  I might consider switching sides... She would give Kerry a shot at Texas.

This could work if Kerry chose someone with national name recognition.  That's why people were excited about the Tom Brokaw float.

I don't know if there are any military officers who are Dems and are well enough known, except for Clark and Powell (who would be a possibility if he weren't currently in the opposing administration).  As for CEOs, are there any with business records squeeky-clean enough to survive the inevitable press gauntlet?

The Dem nominee for Governor in Maryland (Kennedy Townsend) tried choosing a naval officer for her running mate in '02 and it didn't work well at all.  She would have been better off choosing a a prominent black lawmaker, like Ike Leggett.

Is Trump a Democrat? I heard the top of his VP list starts with a former adviser to VP Mondale, and Bank CEO or something like that. A guy named Jim Johnson. Huh, Kennedy/Johnson oops I mean't Kerry/Johnson.

I think he should auction it off on Ebay.

with the proceeds to pay off the national debt. I think Warren Buffet or Bill Gates could put a good dent into it.

Maybe sell it to a new billionaire every year

Maybe it can be like a TV show like Survivor with a bunch of billionaires all trying to get it.

Trump is a little crazy, and he would force Kerry to stop his whole class warfare argument. Kerry isn't that much like Kennedy because he doesn't have a heavy Massachusetts accent.

Thats an idea!  Trump thought about running for president in 2000 as a Reform Party candidate, though his position sounded much closer to the Democrats than the Republicans.  He proposed a one-time 10% tax on accumulated wealth (over a certain # of million $'s) to pay off the debt!

No, Jim Johnson is the guy who is heading the VP search committee.  If you remember, back in 2000 Bush had Cheney head his.  The fact that Cheney then selected himself was a shocker at the time.  Jim Johnson will NOT be selected as VP.

Brokaw would be the best "outsider" pick as VP.

A Brokaw pick would be dumb. It would be just as bad as picking Trump both Clintons, or even Howard Dean. I say A Kerry-Richardson ticket will happen.

Picking Brokaw won't happen, but it would be as strong a pick as Richardson, Edwards, or Warner. Only McCain is stronger than all four of them.

Brokaw would be the best "outsider" pick as VP.

And with those 3 extra electoral votes from Brokaw's home state, Kerry's sure to win!

Well, as the Plains States always vote together, that's 17 extra EVs!
