McCain wasn't a star until 2000, and that was because he was challenging the power. I think the 1996 election proved that Americans were satisfied with their current President. Dole's downfall was that he was an old war horse, and McCain wouldn't have that problem.

I would vote McCain. I think the Democrats have this illusion about Bill Clinton. For some reason they think he was the most popular president ever because he beat Bob Dole. If Perot had stayed out, and McCain was in, we are talking a 1-2% margin of victory for either side. It would be close

I am a Republican, but I would have voted for Perot.

I possibly would have voted Perot in 1992, but no way in 96.

Even though I like McCain and am a fairly moderate democrat… I have to remember despite his language he is a pretty average republican in his polices and I have a great fondness for Clinton and agree with him a great deal… so Clinton very defiantly would get my support, however if McCain won I wouldn’t be too fussed… Had McCain run I also wonder weather Perot would have… in the end I’d say a Clinton win of between 2-3% over McCain…

Clinton wasn't the most popular ever, but times were good, Clinton was likable, and he had a decent first term.  He would've beaten anybody.
