Calling all moderate and centrist Dems...

I am starting our own DLC... could all moderate dems please just voice your support on this thread if you want to join and we can attempt to influence our party's platform...

“For too long Americans have been torn between a conservative dogma which cheats their children out of their future and a Liberal dogma which degrades their values… it is time for a new direction, one where we do not slavishly adhere to a ridged ideology but where we seek to represent the hopes and aspirations of ordinary working Americans while at the same time remaining ever true to our deeply held beliefs in the role of government and the importance of community over reckless individualism… join me and the “Atlas Democratic Leadership Council” and together we can forge a new direction for out party and our nation…”

If your values are little more than interfering with personal decisions and devaluing autonomy, then we have no choice but to degrade them with all deliberate speed.

Ah well...sorry about that, not paying attention as usual Smiley ...

The Atlas DLC is primarily a vehicle for moderates within the Atlas Dem Party (which has had many trial and tribulations of late) but I am more than happy to work with the UAC, but as it is an election month I feel that action is needed from within the Democratic party, and moderates from within the party should work hard to present exciting and inventive polices for out party platform and I hope that the Atlas DLC helps to achieve this…

So I’m hoping to get as many moderate dems as possible back on board so that we can move on into this election and assure Nym/Al of four more months in office... I'm looking forward to a competitive race and a civil and constructive debate about all the issues... Wink

And Welcome Boss Tewedy to the DLC, together with President Nym and myself that means we have three members, the first three of many I am sure… : )

If we reach 5+ members I think a DLC conference would be a good idea with speaking slots for President Nym and others and a formal vote on who should be chairman.

I propose that the DLC endorse... Andrew for the senate! Even though he is a member of the UAC! I find that at this time he is the candidate from the region most likely to represent our views and carry forward our common vision that is unless... Boss Tewedy intends to run as always I am open to hear you thoughts on the course of action... Smiley

Part 1 of my platform:

Abortion- I support abortion only during the first trimester of a pregnancy, or if the pregnancy was a product of rape, incest or if the mothers life is in danger.

Gay Marriage- I do not believe the government should take a role in marriage but I do support Gay Marriage.

Racial Affirmative Action- Against it, plain and simple.

Death Penalty- I support the death penalty ONLY for the most disturbing crimes and ONLY if the person is guilty through DNA evidence.

Spending- I support the creation of a bi-partisian commitee to determine the what we must spend our money on and what is unnecessary. I fully support the cutting of government spending.

Foreign Policy- I’m in favor of pre-emptive attacks on terrorists who threaten our security and freedoms. I believe we must bring the fight to the terrorists before they bring it to us. I believe that we must not appease or negotiate with terrorists. I also support a policy of isolation with the rouge state of North Korea, we must not aide or trade with them.

Certainly... I will start looking into it, how about debates with Andrew and the other candidates? Who else is running anyway, surely the GOP has one of the PA Republicans running?

Oh, and PA isn't in the first district.  It's only New England and New York.

Why am I so far out of the friggin' loop! :-/

Ah well... little remains but for me to convince those on the left of the UAC to vote Dem and for moderate dems to get out and vote...

[Adopts confident tone]

“I'm expecting a competitive election, yes there is some distance between Boss Tweed and Andrew but i have no doubt that we shale overcome that gap and that the voters of the North East will in the end come to realise that Boss Tweed is by far the better candidate [sorry Andrew Wink ] and vote Boss Tweed in as the North East's Senator...”

[statement ends]

I really need some polls…hum

By the way Andrew excellent statement of intent, as you can see up thread we had a little confusion “within the DLC” over who to endorse…

Have you though of going for the UAC presidential nomination?

Yes, the Tweed is STRONGLY against us.  He has called both our party and our members a joke.  You'd probably have better luck trying to convert the Republicans into supporting him.

As head of the DLC it is my solemn duty to fight for the Boss, "Lets win one more for the Boss" as i said to the campaign workers at our headquarters in New York City.. now time to start a thread.. but i think that can wait till tomorrow...

Yeah it a “tough” Wink campaign but do not fear…
