****FOX NEWS ALERT****
Republican Presidential Candidate Reaganfan is addressing the nation

Good evening my fellow Americans, I stand here tonight as a man of new meaning. I am no longer that guy Reaganfan who makes a lot of polls. I am now the Presidential candidate for the Republican party. These past five days have really brought out the best and worse in some people in the forum. Polls show that the power of the UAC party is becoming too strong. As president, I will do my best and everything possible in my power to bring this forum back to the way it was when most of us all joined. Fun, carefree, but in order. Republican Vice Presidential Candidate PBrunsel was my choice. I felt that he and I could run a forum government as great leaders. I thank StevenNick for a spirited week of campaigning. It was fun. I also thank you for giving me the possible chance to serve as your next president. I will be proud to have PBrunsel by my side. And the nation will be proud for him to possibly serve as your next Vice President. I have discussed issues with President Nym. Issues that I may need to face if I am elected. So on election day, if you wish to start a fresh, kind, in order forum again, think of Reaganfan/PBrunsel. Do you really want to skip the chance of a lifetime? Thank you all.

As president I will ask for a bill in senate to create an amendment to have a limited number of parties running in a general election at once. Some may not like this idea. I believe it is a way to bring the forum back to the state of happiness and fun. I see no other way.

So, you want to restrict the # of political parties... thereby forcing people to pick a party or be an independent?

Huh

There shouldn't be a limit on the number of parties.  But there could be some sort of registration requirement...like a party needs to have five registered voters to get on the ballot, and an independent needs to get 5 "signatures" in a thread.

We also need to pass the preferential voting amendment so candidates can't win with 25% of the vote.

Agreed.

Also, To limit possible serious presidential contenders would be ridiculous.

Damn right I don't like th is idea. Step one is limiting the # of people allowed to run, step two is even more restrictions.

REJECT REAGANFAN!

I am totally opposed to limiting the number of parties that can have representation in a presidential election.  Any candidate should be able to declare his or her candidacy.

In my politics class essay, which coincidentally I got an A for, I presented the fact that Bush won less then 25% of the possible vote, and he was leading the world, and therefore was undemocratically elected. The idea was actually presented by my teacher on the radio. Didn't say my name, but still.

(They were talking about Iraq, and she rang up to say "How could someone who won less then a quarter of the votes of his own country run another". It is pretty shocking, really. At least Preferential voting would have alleviated the problem slightly.

Whilst not practical on the forum, I reckon every country should have compulsory preferential voting, it's the only way to get a true result of the people.

And limiting Presidential candidates is the way to do this?

By that logic one could say that there has never been a candidate who has been 'democratically elected' because there has never been an election in which 100% of eligable voters cast their ballots.

That is true. And while this forum election will be close, I believe PBrunsel and I can pull a victory.

True, but Bush was elected with an exceptionally low percentage of the vote. Not saying that Clinton wasn't, but it still doesn't reflect the popular will as much as looking purely as election results will indicate.

My idea on parties running for president is that we should have to have a party get atleast 10 signitures to run. If they can get that more power to them.
