They say that there are 1800 photos on the now infamous CD.  That is a whole heck of a lot of photos.  And if all of them are of such disgusting things then this is absolutely terrible.

What concerns me most is that I do not believe it is reasonable to think that this all could have happened without the knowledge of at least 1 officer.  To take 1800 posed photos it would take approximately 60 hours.

60 hours without the supervision of a single officer?!?!  What the HELL is going on within our military!?!?!

I really don't think this is bad, or breaking any law. They deserve it. I think we should do our best to get as much info from these savages as possible.

Brambila, have you not heard of such things as the Geneva Convention?
If this was a nation treating US prisoners in this way you would be outraged and rightfully so. Prisoners have basic rights, such as the right to medical help, to not be tortured, raped or brutalised. Do you not agree?

You are assuming that every prisoner is a terrorist ... that there were no wrongful arrests ... and that the Geneva Convention doesn't apply to the US.  The guy in that photo is DEAD.  He died after an interrogation.  People in those prisons include individuals who just broke curfew.  That could include a father going to get water for a crying baby.

If these are, as one rumor claims, the rapists of Jessica Lynch, than really I can't say I feel any sympathy for them at all. But it is terrible that our people our doing this, these are things that should not be done by any human being, saps our troops and people's morale, and encourages our enemy.

"They did evil to us, so we may do evil to them?"
Isn't that exactly what keeps the enar east from peace for a few decades now?
So, now people in Iraq say "Hey, all they told us is true, those Americans ARE monsters!".
They are asked to üaticipate in soem attack agaist American Soldiers, Agree because they want to protect their families from those mosters, and more are arrested and tortured because they attacked americans.
Does that strike ANYone else as amazingly stupid?Huh

Um...from what I read in a reliable newspaper most of the prisoners were NOT, as has been insinuated, terrorists or resistance fighters. Most were just normal criminals, with little or no connection to the war.

I'm more or less in agreement with Brambilla on this - there's nothing wrong with trying to get information out of these terrorists.  The colonialists knew that a different standard of prisoner treatment applied when fighting a civilized enemy and an uncivilized one.  For example when Germans fought Englishmen, they knew that both sides would treat prisoners similarly, and reasonably well.  When Englishmen fought Dervishes, Thuggee, etc., they could only expect savage treatment, so it was appropriate to treat the savages the same way.

'Rules of war' are rather absurd, but if reciprocal they make sense.  With these people there are no rules.

My only concern is the psychological warping this type of duty may have caused in these brave American soldiers - and then to be prosecuted for it.  Shameful!

Can we get over this kind of stuff already!?

I heard on WOC "Paul Harvey New's and Comment" that the Congress has spent more time on these pictures taken at 2:30 in the morning by a handful of twisted soldiers, than it did on the enitire invasion of Normandy.

Yes I have. I want you to open it up. I want you to read it. The Geneva Convention laws only to apply to those who agree to use them- it est, if we ever go to war with the UK or France, we can't do these things. And usually, we wouldn't be able to do this with Iraqis, however, that's not the case. These people arn't following the Geneva Convention, so they don't get the benefits of following it. They treat us bad, we treat them worse.

They asked for it.

Things like this are causing our soldiers to die.  Terrorists have a new rallying flag in Iraq and will use it to recruit more guerilla fighters and kill more American soldiers.

Though I disagree with Brabilla, we shouldn't leave.  I'm all for bombing, etc, but Iraq makes a magnificent base controlling the Middle East - we should keep it!

All 30 million of them?  If we're going to pull out, there is no reason to reduce the country to a glowing green "Lake Freedom" since most of them can't/won't follow us.  If we're worried about terrorist attacks then Iraqis haven't really been the problem there.  Count the number of Iraqis in the 9/11 flights or the WTC bombings etc.

It's these reservist cock-bites that are the problem.  Trained Marines would never do this.

Yeah, she's fairly good looking. But you really think a lot of guys would pay for her to give the thumbs up to their corpses?

What pisses me off is that we aren't using 1/100th of the force that we could be using and we are only using about 1/10 of the force that we should be using.  Drop a couple of MOAB's.  If they continue to resist, a few tactical nukes should do the trick.

What pisses me off is when people just say "bomb everything" and don't understand the ramifications of such an action.

What really pisses me off is that I strongly supported this war thinking that Arabs were capable of democracy if we could just light the spark.  It sure seems now like I was disasterously mistaken.
