For all democrats, i am sure that the news that edwards is vp will delight many. I doubt that this is kerrys pick, more the lines that the democratic party picked edwards. Yet, one thing for sure is that edwards wont harm Kerry. Now everyone knows how low the Republican Attack Machine goes to destory people, so my question is what will they have on Edwards?
I suspect that they will use one of his cases as a trial lawyer to attack him. Or his age, is he expeirenced? But is it fair to say that the more likely that the Republican attack machine attacks Edwards, the more likely North Carolina swings towards Democrats.
I cant see Edwards hurting Kerry. I think he can solidify the midwest for doubting Democrats. I think its clear to me that West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina could be up for contention. It all depends on how the Republican attack machine deals with one of their own.

The attack will be to paint him as a far-left liberal and a perfect fit for Kerry and/or someone with conflicting views (If they can't agree on what to support why should you agree to give them your support?).

Also, Edwards was a trial lawyer and is very rich.

Was this reported on FoxNews in a "reliable" way or was this some "sources"?

I'm curious, because it's not on their website (yet).  The only "big" news on their web site is Al Jazeera reports of the beheading of the South Korean hostage.  Sadly.  Again.

BTW, not sure that Edwards could pull SC (or even VA?) into being "in play".  Nonetheless, I think he could sway them just enough to scare Bush into spending precious dollars and time in those two states.  **IF** this report is true, it is a smart move by Kerry.

If Edwards' performance on Meet the Press over a year ago is any indication, he could be susceptible to attacks on his experience.

His history as a trial lawyer, specializing in malpractice, could be an issue.  The argument that outrageous lawsuits have driven up health care costs in one that has gained traction for Republicans in recent years.  Bill Frist speaking on this issue nationally could play well for Bush and help him make up some of the difference between him and Kerry on the health care issue.  This issue has done well for Reps in MS, I don’t think it will help Kerry in FL or even OH.

In VA, NC, and SC, look for Bush adds to not mention Edwards and to instead paint Kerry as a carbon-copy of Ted Kennedy.  Kerry has his work cut out for him in these states.

VA - not too bad of a chance there.
NC - outside chance
SC - no chance in hell

I think that it is halarious that you still pretend to be an "undecided" while you run around complaining about the "Republican Attack Machine" and blaming me for things I didn't do.

At anyrate, Edwards is nothing special and people will pick up real fast on the Kerry's dilike for him and the massive gulf between them.  It will be a running SNL skit.

1/4 chance at South Carolina?  2/3 chance at Virginia?

Are you insane?  Kerry doesn't have a 2/3 chance of WINNING, let alone taking semi-solid Bush states.  South Carolina is part of the Deep South..aaah.

I like Edwards, but he wouldn't have much of an impact on Virginia.  North Carolina maybe, but not enough to turn the state.  South Carolina is a possibility, since that is where he was born, but even still, there is such a strong Republican following there that all it will do is take some of the popular vote away.

What seems obvious in a "Veepstakes" often isn't.  That's why I want to know the quality of the Foxnews report.  It's still not on their web site.  So, I'll presume it was some off the cuff "inside source" remark... just like the inside sources last week who, on the same day, said it was certain to be Vilsack and another said it was certain to be Gephardt.  These "sources" are a joke.

Will it be Edwards?  Probably.  But I'll believe it when I see it.

Acctually Miami, you are right, I can't seem to find it anywhere.  Laura Ingram was on Greta last night saying that Edwards would be the best pick, but that's all I saw of it.

The LA times is firmly behind Edwards being VP.
Susan Estrich on Bill O`Reilly last night said that Edwards will be vp.
Kerry has made record money for a challenger to an incumbent because of all the trail lawyers backing Edwards.

IF EDWARDS IS NOT VP..I WILL DEFINITELY VOTE REPUBLICAN IN 2004..IF HE IS IM STILL UNSURE.

Supersoulty message to you - i hate michael moore and Ted Kennedy as much as i hate Rush Limbaugh and Shaun Hannity. My objection to the Republican attack machine is that democrats condemn the comments of moore and other bomb-throwers. Republicans dont condemn Hannity and Limbaugh and thats why i dont like you. You bash up anything pro-democrat but you never condemn outrageous remarks by Republicans. like adverts comparing bush to reagan, blaming clinton for 9/11, allowing homophoibia and sexism to spread across your party. if you think i am talking crap then tell me why this election will be close..becuse bush has lost an important allie..women. i as a girl know..you as a man dont. you accept limbaughs views..that makes you a sexist pig and to be honest abit of an arrogant cock (how long did it take you to find it this morning..you poor thing haha..i can post you a microscope)

She attacks every forum member that she doesn't agree with, and that above concerning supersoulty has no place on this forum.
