Two of the country's most hated politicians each win their respective primaries.

2008  Nancy Pelosi (D) vs. Dick Cheney (R)

I didn't include VPs because that really does not interest me at the moment.

Discuss with maps.

He has much better approvals/favorables than Pelosi.

Nope, he's right, Cheney had higher approval than Pelosi, not to mention Pelosi's kind of, well you know, a bitch. Your map is sheer Democratic Hackery.

This is the biggest lose-lose situation that I'm not even going to bother making a map. Is there a viable third party candidate in this scenario?

Not in 2008

He would still win everything McCain won minus Arizona and Missouri, at the very least. Could possibly win those and more, such as Indiana and North Carolina. It's not like people ever really liked Pelosi, and given the choice between the two I think more confidence would be given to Cheney by independent voters than Pelosi.

Nope, no 3rd parties.  That is what makes this so interesting.

I think in an election like this a lot of moderates and independents may sit out so this election could be determined by the party base turnout.

Cheney in 2008 would still have a higher approval rating than Pelosi.

Why do people even start these threads?  They're just a waste of time.

Voters do not entrust national security and the future of the nation to San Francisco liberal Pelosi.

Cheney wins by default.

Cheney                      290
Pelosi                        248
