-Taliban leader is killed in Afghanistan
-The prisoners in North Korea are quickly freed
-Cash for clunkers, an easily understood stimulus program, is working and was extended
-Stock market closed at nearly 9400 (with the NASDAQ like 30 points higher than it was when Obama came into office)
-Today's less bad than expected unemployment numbers
-GOP extremism (through the birther controvery and violent town hall mobs) being exposed

Pretty good way to start off August, all told.

Nah, but hopefully it'll help turn the tide on a bit of a rough patch.

You forgot that he also got his first SCOTUS nominee confirmed.

He's on a roll and his Gallup approval ratings are up 6% from his lows and almost back into his normal range of 60-63.

Probably.

Although approval ratings and other such nonsense aren't really important at this point in a presidency. In fact, I'd be disappointed if they were much higher. The lower numbers show he's trying to actually accomplish things.

I don't think that Lief made that observation in order to show that Obama or the Democrats have the next elections in the bag.

That said, I think he had better weeks during the spring.

Maybe. Certainly was a positive week, and he sure needed it. I expect his approvals to go back around 55-60% now.

I just think that it's silly to say "The jobless claims are lower than they were when I took office!", but they're still piss poor... oh well. Yeah, I guess it was a solid week.

Not to mention that he had his birthday this week... Cheesy
