Discuss predictions and games here. Smiley

I have a question and this is addressed to any NFL "expert".

Say your team has the ball. Lets suppose for a second that you were on your goal line and you were out of time outs. Since you can not be pushed back five yards for delay of game, in theory how long could you keep getting penalized? What would happen? Anyone have any idea?

I think you could get penalized as many times as you wanted; the penalty would be half the distance to the goal every time. You'd eventually get to the point though where you would be on the goal line and, even though a penalty would be called, you wouldn't move back at all.

If you were on your own goal line and out of time outs, you probably wouldn't want to waste time.

If it was at 1st down you'd remain at 1st down? Correct?

Correct.

Inside of the 2 minute warning the ref can and will also run ten seconds off the clock to keep  a team from intentionally comitting penalties to stop the clock.
