Hey all,

I was wondering if anyone knew where I can find precinct-level results for Washington State, specifically the Tacoma area. It's information that I am dying to have. I have been able to find some information online for cities of 10,000+, but all of that information excluded a number of counties, and Pierce was among them.

Also, if you don't know where I can find it, how can I (if I can) go about obtaining it via FIA (or whatever is required to get it)?

Thanks!

I've been wanting it too. I can't find it ANYWHERE. Its no where to be found on the Secretary of State website (even though its full of great election info) and none of the local county governments I looked at.

The Seattle Times recently had a picture of how King County precints voted (well, which party they picked) from the primary. I don't know where they got it though. It said Secretary of State was the source but I don't think its on their website. You probably have to go to some place and ask them for it.

Thanks, but I'm pretty sure that doesn't go any more detailed than county-wide results.

This is really a pain. Anyone else have any suggestions?

Yeah, I've been able to find precinct numbers, but never results for them in my area. I believe the results were posted on a web site for areas of 10,000+ people within a city except for in Pierce, King, Kitsap, and a few other counties. Unfortunately, those are the most interesting counties.

However, I suspect they are out there somewhere as Seattle Hill was one of the .PDF's provided. I'm pretty sure that is in King County.

Washington's site isn't very good information wise.  It looks nice though...On Idaho's they give precinct numbers and such, exactly what you want.  My advice to you, is to go down the Elections Division:

520 Union Avenue SE
Olympia

And ask for what you want.  That's the way Dave did it I believe.

Yeah. Very pretty. And totally pointless.

Thanks - that's probably what I'll end up doing. Haven't been to Olympia for a while, and it's a nice town.

Will they just hand it to me or should I contact them/request it first?

To be honest, I'm not sure at all.  They'll probably set it up to mail it to you.  I don't really know, because I've never done it personally, and I don't live in Washington.  Smiley  Considering it's not secret info (shouldn't be at least) they'll eventually get a way for you to get the info you want.  If they don't, then there's a problem and corruption.

Hey, what do I care about King County? Whenever a movie is filmed here, they change the location to Seattle. It's just not right!

Pierce County all the way. Smiley

Washington is one of the harder states to acquire precinct-level data from.  I have Kitsap, Mason, Snohomish, and Spokane for 2000.  King county wanted a lot of money to get a paper copy of their results.  Can't remember about Pierce...  I haven't put these data on the site as yet.

I knew you had to pay for King County. But it seems like they should have digital data too.

I can actually understand King County charging for paper copies - they have 2,613 (!!!) precincts. But why they can't make digital information available is beyond me. The same goes to the other counties. And Ferry county is apparently insanely lazy.

FairData2000.com apparently got information for all areas with high populations not in Benton (178 precincts), Ferry (36 precincts), King (2,613 precincts), Kitsap (184 precincts), and Pierce (374 precincts) counties.

For those who want to see them, precinct maps are available from various cities in WA:

http://fairplan.u31.infinology.net/WashingtonAccess/Maps/Places_Over_10000/_Bush-Gore/

Their site here also features information from cities in various states:

http://fairplan.u31.infinology.net/

The states are Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.

Hey, Dave, where did you call to get the information? What office (state or local)? I'm not sure where to start.

Populated areas? Of 10,000 people? In Ferry County? I don't think there are any.

Wow. That's very cool and sort of freightening at the same time. I'll say that I'm very familiar with the area.
