My biggest beef with him is that while he was extolling the virtues of patriotism to make people support the Iraq War, he never got around to going to Vietnam himself.

That is hardly a unique trait among warmongers. Elizabeth Cheney was conceived almost immediately after they changed the rules so that childless men could be drafted.

I remember that. Elizabeth Cheney was born exactly nine months and two days after Johnson changed the draft rules, and married men with no children were no longer exempted from the draft.
