In other words, advocates of a bigger government role in health care are outspending opponents by more than 5 to 1. The advocates include not only the Democratic National Committee and left-liberal groups such as MoveOn.org but formerly evil special interests such as the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America and "a coalition of drug companies, doctors, for-profit hospitals and union members" operating under the astroturfy name Americans for Stable Quality Care.

Good.  They need to outspend them by 100:1, probably.  And out-donate, too.

I wonder what this could mean if pro-public option guys totally take the cake? Do you think that will shift the balence of power in the dark rooms of the lettered streets?

It should cost more to educate rather than throw mud, correct? Silver had a post about this topic yesterday.

Hard to believe, because all the wealth and power are on the medical mafia side.  Perhaps this figure is a misrepresentation, leaving out normal ongoing medical mafia lobbying costs.

It's no surprise that Big Pharma is supporting a public option; they stand to gain millions of new customers for their drugs on the government's dime.

All this PR isn't going to make much difference. That is my intuition.

Eh Big Pharma is one of the least benefiting groups from a public option imo.

That's a pretty worthless comment if you don't expand on it. Least benefiting of all groups in existence? Of corporate sectors?

They're one of the least benefiting groups that will actually gain from a public option. In the corporate sector they're the group that will mostly likely benefit the most from the passage of this bill. Basically,I think that the consumer has everything to gain from this bill but for Big Pharma there could be some small problems.
