But only if it's your political or religious enemies, so no worries.

While I applaud any thread which reveals the truth about religion, I must decry the tired dinner jacket meme.

No, mispronunciation of foreign names with English speakers. Something I've experienced personally.
I pronounce it Akh - mad - inn - ejad, which while closer is different from the true pronunciation, so perhaps I shouldn't criticize.

You know, it used to be common for English speakers to pronounce Marseille as Mar-sales.

I kind of like that.  Like junta - I've always pronounced it as 'hunta', in the Spanish style, but I understand many Brits say Junta with the J.. neat!

Most Brits still pronounce apartheid as "apart-haid", rather than "apart-hate".

I personally have no clue why English-speakers write 'Marseilles' and 'Lyons'.

Ah, yes. That's the other one. Lyon was often pronounced as "Lions".

I pronounce Ahmedinejad correctly!

You know, it used to be common for English speakers to pronounce Marseille as Mar-sales.

I personally have no clue why English-speakers write 'Marseilles' and 'Lyons'.

Same reason Roma is Rome or Torino is Turin or Livorno is Leghorn or München is Munich.

Explain the problem is writing 'Marseille' or 'Lyon' in English.
