Typical liberal democRAT organization 1
Speaking as a liberal democrat, I'll correct you and give them a 2 based only on good intentions for many of their members. I contribute regularly and gladly to the ASPCA, the Humane Society and several local animal shelters, but I would never give a dime to these extremist counter-productive publicity whores.

Mixed maybe a 5. While they have a good cause to support animals they do a lot of stupid publicity stunts that only make them look like attention whoring nut jobs. They also kill animals which is hypocritical see the Penn Gilette Documentary about Peta.

Less than zero

"The killing of chickens = holocaust on a plate"
"Fish Sea kittens"
"A cockroach is as valuable as a human fetus"

They don't even save animals.  They are bullshit

You can't be serious.

The only reason it is not a "1" is because I think there should be organizations that fight for decent and humane treatment of animals.  But PETA and its followers are just about as disgusting as Operation Rescue.  Basically, lunatics.

I hardly see why their is so much outrage over fur, people wear leather daily.

I was thinking, of course, of the models, not the message. Tongue

As far as I know, they oppose the wearing of leather, as well.

As I recall, they once requested that the title of the Judas Priest album Hell Bent For Leather be changed to Hell Bent For Pleather.

Judas Priest in general is awesome. Much heavier bands would come later, but they were critical in the early development of metal. Nice to see that there are other people here who know where it's at.

Ehhh...I just wish Operation Rescue would show 24 year old big-breasted millionaire heiresses naked behind glass....but I digress. PETA is even more damaging to our economic and social well-being than Operation Rescue....that being said, we must make sure that senseless violence in harvesting our animal products does not produce moral decay in our society. However, biological reductionism (that rights are based on the sum of our parts and not indivisible individuals) has ravaged our society for the last 30 years and must be marginalized. This marginalization will contribute to a more compassionate and decent society than one built on the hatred of women, hunters and ranchers.

I think PETA is way over the top.  I am a compassionate meatatarian.  I believe in treating animals ethically.. but I also think eating them is part of human life and it provides essential vitamins and proteins.

Some societies absolutely depend on animal protein and fat (eskimos, people in herding societies where not many edible plants grow, but the animals can eat the grass and turn it into edible milk).. to lambast their traditions and ours because you feel bad for the animal is ridiculous.

I think the only beneficial thing PETA has ever done is increase boners by OVER 9000%:
