Yeah and it has 55% support in Arkansas as well, including 56-34 among political independents and 51-43 among whites. It appears that as far as the public option goes, the towners are just a vocal minority. Interesting that on this issue, Arkansas does not appear to be more conservative than the nation as a whole.

Not really surprising, considering Arkansas's economic situation and that Wal-Mart doesn't provide health coverage.

Wal Mart provides health insurance, but it sucks

It's been well known that roughly 2/3-3/4 support a public option in theory. However, when the politicians start getting into details, many oppose it. Everybody has a different idea of what a good "public option" should look like.

There's some state (I think maybe Georgia?) where Wal-Mart actually hands out applications for food stamps to new employees.

Shouldn't conservatives hate Wal-Mart too?

Not one Republican has responded to this thread.

They realized that calling doctors "socialists who don't care about quality health care" wasn't going to go over well.

Well the title is a little missleading and Xahar won the race to point out the idiocy of it, Pubbies aren't going to quote Xahar, thus silence.

The problem with that point is that Obama is not proposing ending a private option.

Hey, if you want, you can come here and have my health care system and I'll go over there and use your fancy NHS. Though, being a libertarian, I assume when you're sick you don't go to the NHS because you refuse to let socialism treat you?

Hopefully you never have to use the evil, socialistic system you guys have over there. Just come over here to the US for treatment because it's soooo much better. That's what all the smart people do. Or was it the rich? I can't remember.

So you were born in a socialist hospital then? Socialist doctors pulling you out of your mother?

It is highly likely you will be there eventually.  The great majority of humans end their lives in sickness, pain, misery, and humiliation.

That's a little scary.  Don't you have to have immunizations and physicals for school and such?

We do here... otherwise they won't enroll you.  Of course ability to pay isn't a problem either since the schools often help set up clinics for needy children.
