His seat isn't vacant yet, is it? I thought it was three missed votes to cause a vacancy.
It's close to being vacant.
I must say, if we lose a total of three Representatives this session due to failure to stay active, that can't look good for our region.
I'm not surprised; turnout in the most recent election was dismal. Under these circumstances, it becomes easy for elected officials to lose their sense of responsibility. I hope that this weekend's competitive special election will see greater voter participation.

If Jersey loses in the election or is kicked out, do we still have to debate his bills? Do they just shift to citizen-sponsored rather than Rep-sponsored?

They should be treated as citizen-sponsored legislation.
By the way, as Jerseyrules is an
Interim
Representative, the Assembly is empowered to remove him from office by a majority vote at any time for any reason.

As some debate has arisen about the proper procedure for dealing with citizen legislation, I'll put Jersey's bills on hold until we figure this all out.

I've reviewed the constitution, and it's clear that two signatures are required for each proposal. We should have a CJO soon, but I don't think that waiting is necessary.

I encourage the Assembly to approve my nominee for CJO quickly. Leaving the position vacant any longer than necessary is a disservice to the citizens of the Northeast. I am sorry that I was unable to put forward a nominee until now.
Dallasfan has a long record of public service and commands respect from those who have been around long enough to know him. His understanding of Northeastern law, his perspective as a veteran player, and his respect for civil liberties and individual rights recommend him highly for this position.

We dubbed you a Cowhead a few days ago. Maybe you should have voted on them within the 24-hour window.

Representatives Simfan and Goldwater have blocked the amendment:
Quote from: Article VI
Amendments to this Constitution shall be proposed by the Legislative Assembly of the Northeast Region. A proposed Amendment shall be forwarded to be voted upon by the citizens of the Northeast upon an affirmative vote of
two-thirds
of voting members of the Legislative Assembly of the Northeast Region and an affirmative vote of a majority of all members of the Legislative Assembly.

Yes, my amendment has failed. Ah well, perhaps the next assembly will be more favorable to it.
In the meantime, I'll look into have a citizens' intiviative amendment places in our constitution to allow citizens to directly propose legislation for a vote of the people - but not, I think, constitutional amendments.

I lodge a formal protest over the final vote on my constitutional amendment. The version that was outed on was not the most current version, I had submitted an amendment to the bill before the final vote, but this was not concluded in the final legislation presented to the assembly to vote on.

I just updated the vital civic information thread and realized that despite having held about a dozen special elections and a lot of grousing from me, this session of the Assembly has been a fairly active one, albeit lacking in drama or controversy.
Great work, everybody. Gold stars, all around.
