2010 Congressional Redistricting- Alabama

Alabama has 1 Black Majority Democratic District (AL-7)-vacated by Arthur Davis(D) who is running for Governor- 2 Solid Republican leaning districts held by Conservative Democrats. Bobby Bright (D/AL-2) and Parker Griffith (D/AL-5), 1 Competitive Republican leaning District- AL-3 held by Mike Rogers-R. and 2 Solid Republican leaning districts - AL-1(Jo Bonner-R) and AL-4 (Roger Aderholt-R). - The goal is giving Bright(AL-2) and Griffith(AL-5) safer districts- assuming they get re-elected in 2010.
Too give Bright(D/AL-2) a safe district- we remove Autaga and Elmore County from AL-2 and place it in AL-3 (Mike Rogers-R). and give Bright(D/AL-2) all of Montgomery County.
AL-5 is unable to be gerrymandered.

Arizona has 2 Safe Hispanic Majority Democratic Districts- AZ-4(Pastor-D) and AZ-7(Grijalva-D). 3 Competitive Districts held by Democrats- AZ-1(Kilpatrick-D),AZ-5 (Mitchell-D)and AZ-8(Giffords-D). and 3 Safe Republican Districts- AZ-2(Franks-R),AZ-3 (Shadegg-R),and AZ-6 (Flake-R). we are also expecting 2 new Districts.
we can make AZ-8 (Giffords-D) a safe Democratic district by taking away Conchise and Pinal county and making a new Republican leaning district. along with AZ-1 base in Gila,Graham,Greenlee,Pinal, and portions of AZ-5 (Maricopa base). - expect a tough GOP primary between- JD Hayworth vs Randy Graf vs Sydney Hayes. - Giffords(AZ-8),Mitchell(AZ-5),and Kirkpatrick(AZ-1) will get safer districts. -
We create a new Hispanic Democratic majority District in Southwestern part of Arizona.

The Obama Republican Districts in CA are- CA-3(Lungren-R),CA-24(Galeghy-R)CA-25(McKeon-R),CA-26(Drier-R),CA-44(Calvert-R),CA-45(Bono-R),CA-48(Campbell-R),and CA-50(Bilbrary-R).
CA-3(Lungren-R)- Amador,Alpine, and Calveras County is removed and given to CA-11(McNerney-D). CA-11(McNerney-D) loses portions of San Joquin County to CA-10(Garemendi-D). and CA-3 picks up portions of Solano County from CA-10.
The Republican incumbents in CA-24,CA-25,CA-26,CA-45,and CA-48 are not going anywhere.
CA-44(Calvert-R)- Remove Orange County and give it to CA-48 (Campbell-R). and give Calvert(R/44)- Gary Miller's R/CA-42 San Bernardino and Los Angeles County base including Miller's home in Diamond Bar. CA-42 will pick up remaining portions of CA-48 (Cambell-R) orange County base. Miller-R will have to run against Calvert-R in the GOP primary in the new CA-43- which will help the Democrats win.
CA-50 (Bilbary-R)- Trade portions of CA-50- San Diego County base with CA-53(Susan Davis-R) San Diego county base.

Florida is expecting two new District- one is going to be a Republican leaning swing District in Orlando/Volusia County area- giving Grayson(FL-8) and Kozmas(FL-24) safer districts. Another district will be a Miami Dade Cuban Majority District.
Georgia is expecting one new District- Republican controlled legislature in Georgia will create a new Republican leaning district from Jim Marshall (GA-8) and John Barrow(GA-12). and create a Black majority district from GA-12.

Illinios is losing 1 seat- The goal is to protect Bean(IL-8),Foster(IL-14),and Halverson(IL-11)- get rid of Roskam (IL-6) , create a Democratic successor for Biggert(IL-13) and abolish a Southern Republican Illinios District.
IL-8(Bean-D)- Remove McHenry County and give it to IL-16(Manzullo-R). Give IL-8(Bean-D)- portions of IL-14(Foster-D)-Kane County Base. IL-14- picks up Henry,Fulton, and Knox County portions of IL-17(Hare-D)- and Hare-D picks up Western portion of IL-16. Whiteside,Jo Davies, and Carroll.
IL-13(Biggert-R)- gets carved up. Cook County goes to IL-1(Rush-D),Will County goes to IL-11(Halverson-D),and DuPage County goes to IL-3(Lipinski-D). IL-11(Halverson-D) gives portions of her Will and Kankakee County base to IL-2(Jackson-D). A new Minority Majority Democratic majority district from Northern parts of IL-1,IL-2 and eastern part of IL-3 is created.
IL-6(Roskam-R)- gets carved up. The new IL-6 includes Southern DuPage County including Roskam's home in Wheaton and Western portions of IL-4(Guitteriez) and IL-7 (Davis) Chicago base. - a strong Hispanic/Black electorate will hurt Roskam's chances in the General election.

IL-4(Guitteriez-D) picks up the Central portion of IL-7(Davis-D). IL-7(Davis-D) picks up the Eastern portion of IL-5 (Quigley-D) and IL-9(Schakowsky-D). IL-9 (Shakowsky-D) picks up IL-6 Cook County and northern DuPage County base. and IL-5(Quigley-D) picks up IL-6 central DuPage county base.
IL-19(Shimkus-R) and IL-15 (Johnson-R) get combined in the same district.

You won't be remaking AZ's districts in any way unless you knock out our republican dominated state legislature. The only thing that will be changed is the addition of another safe republican in Chandler, Mesa, Gilbert and another safe republican in Glendale.

I thought AZ redistricting was non-partisan?

I personally, just saying, I think a new district would be in/or around Tampa Bay. I think they are growing much faster than the Miami metro.

This thread should be on the Political Geography/Demographics board with other redistricting threads. It's not actually about next year's election.
