I prefer living here to living the the States:  better climate, much better food, and Thai women are nice.  Most importantly I can live like a king here on my income, instead of merely middle class like back home.  For example living in a hotel a few steps from the beach costs about $180 a month with maid service, and a delicious meal - with fresh ingredients (something you don't find in the US) costs about $1.

But though Thailand is my favorite, there are many other countries I'd like to try, particularly in South America generally.

There is so little crime it is almost uncanny.  Most people attribute it to the Buddhist culture. 

Near Japanese rarity of crime, even though the country is fairly poor (percapita GDP around 2500 I think).
