People are probably opposing this because putting 14 year olds in the military is not the best idea of all time... to say the least.

Iraq did it.

Therefore it's good to do. I like that reasoning.

Hey, China tortures and kills people. Let's do it too!

Damn. I wish I came up with that.

Too late. Already have the copyright going.

If the teens want to join the Army, why should we stand in their way?  I'm sure that some of those young studs in the prime of their youth would make outstanding soldiers.  We don't have a draft anyway, so let's not go there.

I oppose this. However, if Atlasia does have a voting age set at 18, I would support lowering it to 16.

Atlasia has no voting age. Else Xahar wouldn't be able to vote. Tongue

I'm even younger then Xahar!

That's scarry Tongue

I'm probably the youngest on the forum, excluding catmusic and politicaladdict.

Does this also apply to things such as driving, consuming alcohol, and buying a firearm?

And you don't find anything wrong with a 14 year old doing any of those things?

I found quite a bit "wrong" with 14 year olds having unrestriced access to porn, but this Senate thought otherwise.  So I'm doing a complete 180 degree turnaround.  You want "freedom" for teenagers?  Here it is!

So you are advocating "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em?"

My god.

I think a distinction can easily be made between things which are 'wrong' and things which ought to be illegal.

One of the main arguments in favor of the pornography bill was to remove unenforceable laws - which the issuing of driver's licenses, age limits on joining the military, etc. are not.

I think it's pretty easy to enforce a law prohibiting minors from buying porn.

Tweed was 13 or so when he founded Atlasia, so a voting age would be interesting.

By requiring ID, just like cigarettes or alcohol.

If anyone actually expects me to take this legislation seriously and give a serious answer to these ridiculous arguments, it's not happening. I'm having a very hard time even reading this thread.

You don't need to be 18 to buy alcohol in Atlasia anyway.

https://uselectionatlas.org/AFEWIKI/index.php/Reform_of_the_Alcohol_Reform_Act_Act

In the Pacific there is no minimum drinking age.

Consumption and purchasing are two different things. Just like viewing porn and buying porn are two different things.

I contend that our esteemed PPT is unable to develop a logical argument for opposing this while supporting the other so-called "victory for freedom."
