Player List

U - Hash - Wales
U - Afleitch - Scotland*
U - Devilman - Greece
U - Nik - Normandy
A - rubyug - Prussia
A - Yelnoc - Occitania
U - PiT - Persia
U - Xahar - Hungary
U - Fydor - Denmark
A - Patukov - Troika**
A - AaronH - Barbary
A - Hello_Viafra - Poland
U - Vepres - Egypt

* I will be asking, but not requiring Afleitch to switch nations, offering him Austria-Bavaria, which is now a playable nation.

Also, I'm going to reduce the number of currently playable nations to 1, Finland. Any other applicants will be put on a "waiting list" as I fully expect to lose players between now and the time the game starts, so having the big nations have people waiting to take them will help, big time.

** Troika is no longer a playable nation. Patukov applied for Muscowy as #1, but it was not playable. I am willing to offer it to him, however, I want to note that Finland plays the role of 'Russia' in many ways, and I'd ask but not require Patukov to take Finland.

Both these people will get PMs shortly.

You are free to rename your cities to anything within reason. You can name a city, for example, stalingrad (or Hashemgrad) but don't go around naming them things like pen*s. AMSTAR still has the final say, and I get to play AMSTAR Tongue

Historically and linguistically true name will always be accepted, but I ask that you use the latin alphabet.

I demand Hungarian names for mine.

Rijeka→Fiume
Zagreb→Zágráb
Papa→Pápa
Pressburg→Pozsony
Budapest is correct
Szolnok is correct
Timisoara→Temesvár
Novi Sad→Újvidék
Kosice→Kassa
Cluj-Napoca→Kolozsvár
Brasov→Brassó

How ought I to feel that I didn't have to look many of these up?

Hashemite's Celtic names:

Derry→Doire
Belfast→Beál Feirste
Barregarrow→Bayr Garroo
Carlisle→Cathair Luail
Bangor is correct
Aberystwyth is correct
Swansea→Abertawe
Plymouth→Aberplymm
Penzance→Pensans
Brest is correct
Saint-Malo→Sant-Maloů
Rennes→Roazhon
Saint-Nazaire→Sant-Nazer

It would be very nice if someone could standardize the orthography, but I don't suppose anyone here has that knowledge.

Each city will have a population, listed in hundreds of thousands.

Factories will not reflect population with regards to output, but will reflect themselves.

There is a distance range, within which, you can do things instantly. This just-in-time industry can be valuable. If, for example, you have an Iron Factory in the same city as a Weapons Factory, in the same city as an Airplane Manufacturing plant, you can use this to your advantage. If the source of the Iron is within range, then in a single turn you can turn not-yet-mined Ore into Fighter Planes. Railroads increase this distance greatly, and hence, are useful for industry.

Anything that is not processed within a turn is stored in your National Store. Using this National Store you can collect Iron on one end of your world-stretching empire, and use it the next turn on the other end.

"Materials" are the basics of life, things needed for peaceful economic development and consumption. This will be a single trade product.

You cannot use money directly in trade, rather, you can use "Trade Credits". You cannot voluntarily buy or sell these, however in the event of shortages, they can be converted in certain ways.

The population of cities includes the population of the land around it

Sorry for digging up an old thread but it is with good reason - This game is not dead. I am still working on it.

Here is the map at it's last update:

http://www.ridingbyriding.ca/AMSTAR/AMSTARbase.png

It's still a "work in progress". I really don't know if I'll ever finish it, but it's certainly not dead.
