I'm a firm nationalist, but that doesn't mean anything about supporting the government no matter what. I believe stroongly in Australia, a bit less strongly in Australians, and not much at all in the Australian Government.

Meant to vote strongly disagree, voted disagree.

I would not support a Nazi regime in any country, regardless of my citizenship. I respect my country - I simply give the benefit of the doubt to the people who run it.

I would never trust the government if it has something to hide behind.

Strongly disagree - I would not support the country if the country was doing something I morally opposed, such as what hitler did.

STRONGLY disagree. If the government ignores me, steals my money, and sends my freinds of to some irrelevant war you better damn well believe i'm going to be pi$$ed.

You know who doesn't get pi$$ed.

Bush supporters. That's why I hate them.

Disagree.

The  best way to help your country is to let it know when it's wrong.

I Strongly Agree.

Supporting my country and my countrymen is different from supporting the actions of the government.

I would always hope for the best from my country, regardless of who is running it.

P.S.  One of the great things about living in a country like ours is that if we don't approve of the actions of our government, we can support our country by throwing them out.

If you were a German in Nazi-Germany would/should you have supported Hitler and your country? Obviously not, so I usually pick strongly disagree here.

If my country did something really, really bad I would not support it, I would cheer on our enemies.

The question is about my country.  Since I never see my country falling into facist dictatorship, I don't consider that angle.

Also, supporting Germany wouldn't mean supporting Hitler.  Indeed, you could be supporting Germeny by trying to kill Hitler.

I'm sure the Germans didn't think their country would fall into a fascist dictatorship either.

I'd always support my country too - but it doesn't mean that I'll necessarily support her political leadership!

They sure as Hell didn't make certain of it the way that we have.  The Weimar government was just ripe for dictatorship.  The way it was set up invited that sort of thing to happen.

And how did we 'make sure' of it? The Constitution? While I believe in the ideas behind it, the Constitution is a piece of paper, and is worthless unless the people are willing to enforce it. How many of our people have even read the entire thing, much less understand it?
