In 2000

As expected, Vice President Al Gore wins the Democratic Presidential nomination.  Gore stuns the party and the nation by picking First Lady Hillary Clinton for Vice President.  Hillary accepts the nomination and throws herself whole heartedly into the campaign.

Senator John McCain defeats Governor George W Bush to win the Republican Presidential nomination.  In a surprise move, McCain picks former Transportation Secretary, former Labor Secretay, and former President of the Red Cross Elizabeth Dole for Vice President.  Like Hillary, Liddy accepts the nomination, and enthusiastically enters the campaign.

How does this election between McCain and Liddy and Gore and Hillary turn out?

Democrat
Vice President Al Gore (TN)/First Lady Hillary Clinton (AR)

Republican
Senator John McCain (AZ)/Former Cabinet Secretary Liddy Dole (NC)

Interesting, but does Hillary just give up her run for the Senate?

In this scenario, Hillary does not take up residence in New York, does not run for the Senate, and is enthusiastic about the prospect of becoming the first female Vice President in U.S. history.

I am assuming that Nader is still in the race?

First, the VP selections are interesting.  Clinton probably helps Gore win Arkansas, Missouri and West Virginia while Dole doesn't add any new states.  McCain probably does slightly better, than Bush by winning Wisconsin and Minnesota along with Oregon and 3 out of 4 EV in Maine.

I would bet that IF Nader did not run, Gore would win Wisconsin, Minnesota, Oregon and the election.

Gore: 253

good prediction, but I doubt that the south east would have >60% for Mccain even with Dole.
