To be honest, I have been noticing periods of this for the better part of a few years now.  Never brought it up.  But it doesn't always happen during period of high traffic.  Often times, it will be three in the morning and I have to wait 5 minutes for a post to register... or often times it will time out while posting, or while I am looking up something.

Same here. There have been instances where it's lasted 15-20 minutes even. I never brought it up because I just assumed it was some sort of maintenance quirk.

Last night it was really bad after like midnight EST - when me and Einzige were debating gay marriage.

Seriously in troubles tonight.

Very long time to load some pages, and it just asked me to relog myself in.

Other than that i can't remind of a time during which it so often lagged...

Well, boys I think we have given Mr. Leip all he needs to know.....maybe we should just let him work on this and thank him for his efforts.

Well, yes, but personally my last interventions were just some feedback, not at all some complaining and I think it's good that such a thread stays opened in order to express a constant feedback about that.

Its been really hellish tonight. Of Course I have dial-up. But compared to other times when I have used it, it is really moving slow.

I've noticed this, too, in the time that I've been back.  It probably has to due with the guests using so much bandwidth.

A possible solution might be to make the forum viewable only after one has registered and logged in.  That also might have the added bonus of deflecting possible trolls from becoming interested in the first place.  You know, out of sight, out of mind.

On the other hand, it would mean there would be few to no new members.

That's possible.  Then again, I'd imagine that old members might like that. Tongue

Yes, if people can't read what's going on here, why would they register.

If that would really be the problem, there might be mixed solutions. I know forums who shut one part of their boards to non-members, though, how to choose the shut boards?

Or, if that's technically possible, and if that can prevent robots, make that people have to come say 10 or so times on the forum before they can subscribe.

Or, dunno, maybe this forum needs a bigger engine. Saying that, i don't at all what it would technically correspond to...

Anyways, that's fine by me today...

We should hide every third word in each post to anyone who isn't registered.   Tongue

No wait, I've got it: Subscription fee required to view the posts of the most popular posters.  $5 a month to read whatever opebo has to say.
