I'm more dreading looking forward to RowanBrandon, DWDL, etc.'s reactions if Christie Corzine wins.

I must admit that while I hate Corzine, this would be amusing to watch.

I'd be funny to see Ben's reaction if Deeds actually wins.

I'm hoping that the kid doesn't have a breakdown.

I'd think that'd be far more likely that he'd be annoying if Deeds won, but I'd let it slide since it would be a major upset, I think everyone knows by now that McDonnell is gonna win* and it won't be like a huge surprise when Deeds probably doesn't pull out the upset

*which can partially be explained by the Deeds campaign shifting its campaign structure to some Washington honchos that didn't know how to work a good campaign theme for a bit of a clumsy, affable candidate against a strong candidate like McDonnell who really fits into the traditional DC idea of campaigning

Interesting situation, now they're in dead heat.

Nevethless, DWDL would get drunk anyway: if Cristie wins from joy, if lose just to make himself less unhappy Tongue

See DWDL, you're on winning position anyway!

If Deeds loses, I'll accept it, and congratulate the GOP.  If he wins, then holy hell, you won't even believe the kind of gloating that is going to happen.

Well done Ben! Folks seem to assume that you would remain, assuming arguendo to the extent you were,  some immature dysfunctional forever. They were wrong!  Smiley

However, the dirty little secret is that governors don't make much difference. States are strapped for money, and most things that are spent are non discretionary. So they run around making speeches and hope the economy allows them to at once spend more, while cutting taxes, making everyone happy. What they hate are making tough choices. Heck I could not get my assemblywoman to name one thing that she wanted to cut out of government in our little bankrupt state, including grossly overpaid public safety folks (because, I infer,  that is a GOP constituency overall, and her voters want to be "safe,"), and she claims to be a right wing Republican, which she is when it comes to social issues (she loves prisons (and prison guards, and not letting any druggies out of prison, because they pose a clear and present danger to society), hates pot, abortion, and anything to do with gays, because they are all "immoral"). In other words, she is useless, just like most politicians.

Federal politicians matter more, because the Feds can print money, and go to war. That is all.

Especially when most of the GOPhers here erupt into a chorus of "what the f**k" five minutes after such a victory is announced.

Considering Ben only likes Deeds because he feels that he should like Deeds (so he can be a good moderate Democratic who isn't a partisan hack!), not really.

Hopefully in ~5 years Ben will look back on these days and see how silly we was.

Exactly. Same thing with any politician he has a crush on.

Yes, Alex I will be, for my former classmate,  Tom Campbell.  He was such a straight arrow in college, and involved in student government, so I suspected he was keeping himself "clean" for higher things. But he was and is as smart as hell, and a sensible chap, and lo and behold, "converted" to the GOP later after he went to graduate school and secured a degree in economics after going to law school (I got my MBA before going to law school, and he did the reverse, so he remained in a state of ignorance for a longer period than I did, but that is OK Smiley ). His only problem is that he is unwilling to gut folks that need to be gutted sometimes. But hey, nobody is perfect!

That's awesome! I was going to try and volunteer for his campaign. Whitman has turned me off and Poizner has no chance at this point. Campbell could give the Dems a run for their money Smiley

Depending on what you consider socialist, one can argue that GWB was a socialist. At the very least, he was a corporatist of this worst kind, which is related to socialism.

I've been called a socialist before.

You knew Campbell? Wow that's pretty cool. I will be voting for him too (provided the pubbies let indies vote in their primary). Not sure about the general. If he promises to crush the public service unions (both "liberal" and "conservative"), I might ignore the issues I disagree with him on. Of course what I like most about him is how detailed all his plans are. He knows what he is doing. Even when I disagree, I can see that his views are well thought out.

You could, but that would be incredibly retarded.

No firm opinion (though being a Republican officeholder in California requires a certain amount of crazy), but he doesn't seem like the sort of person who would be elected from this district.

I actually think BenConstine's reaction will be more humorous if Deeds wins. Mainly because I was not among the people shoving the inevitability of McDonnell's victory down his throat. Seriously, there will be more "I Told You So's" than Hillary Clinton would have if McCain was inaugurated on Jan. 20.
