Yeah, the RPP didn't even contest that our most liberal member be on your ticket.  We just wanted to make sure regions were preserved to help our long-term goals

What can I say, I like the guy (and yes I have read his views). I also like his VP candidate and they are two people that I respect even if I don't agree with them all the time. On the other hand I do want to ensure that DWTL stays far from the senate. This made the deal enticing at first to me at least. But throwing Hashemite under the bus in the process was a no-no in my mind and most of the LNF had reservations for various reasons. I think what all of us agreed on was that any "deal" would have to be public. We are not the party of backroom dealing. Of course by that time it had become public and we were accused of being that exact thing. Oh well.

...which is the beauty of STV. I remember winning fairly easily both times I ran in STV elections, but, no, you never feel safe until near the end of the last day. Might be slightly different now that we have powerful political machines, but I suppose if there are multiple candidates...

Yeah, even if my chances are good, I never feel comfortable. I'm always scared of how things will turn out in the end because with so many voters and so many candidates, things always seem chaotic or uncertain.
