It seems like he's beating around the bush (the plant, but the former president applies as well) with his decision and it was said that he would announce back in September.

Well, even if he did decide he didn't want to run, he may do the NRSC a favor by keeping his name in there so that they can claim they have more potential seats in play to their donors

Things could get bad if Linda Lingle (R-HI) and John Hoeven (R-ND) decide to run.

Whilst Dorgan may face more of an electoral battle than usual if Hoeven runs due in part to the Republican lean of North Dakota, Inouye wouldn't be in any serious danger if Lingle was to challenge him, due in part to the Democratic lean of Hawaii.

We also have to see whether or not Brad Henry(OK) is going to run against Coburn-D.

^^^^

Lingle may have had a chance in an open seat scenario, but as long as Inouye runs, he will win.

Oh aye, possibly, she does seem quite popular there.

How would Lingle fare- if she was running against Ed Case or Mazie Horino.

I don't think Lingle-R is a clear favorite to win an open US Senate Seat race despite being a popular Governor. Getting elected to the Governorship of Hawaii- where the State legislature is overwhelmingly Democratic- Democrats have a veto proof majority in Hawaii. is much easier position for a Republican to win than a US Senate Seat from Hawaii- where voters will prefer the Democratic candidate.
