Unexpected; talk was that we would be just coming out of recession.

Figures. The UK will need a while to achieve stable growth I figure. Maybe less time than the USofA, but it'll still be a while.

Say, now's a good time for the UK to switch to the euro! w00t!

It appears that the main current account deficit countries, including UK, Ireland, Spain, and Eastern Europe are getting it worse, despite some predictions to the contrary earlier this year.

This has to go down as one of the few instances that we agree on something.

That statement is correct, economically. I'm sure we'd agree more on social stances though.

Anyway, reasoning behind keeping the pound:

1. We give it up and we end up being controlled by a European Central Bank.. we lose our independence, and I don't believe one bank can set a rate that is in the interest of all Europe.

2. It'll weaken the economy... the pound is still stronger than the euro.

3. The pound is a symbol of our nation... we give it up and we give up part of our nation's soul.

The UK should get out of this recession soon since the U.S. already got out of it.
