I started counting, and was sort of impressed with myself when the total got to 51.  If you only include people I've talked to more than once or twice, it goes down to 42.  I'm sort of wondering where I fit in here.

The continental breakdown is:
Europe - 21
Asia - 14
Africa - 4
Latin America - 8
US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand - 4

123 on first count. Probably more in actuality. Some places are very fleeting like an Eritrean cab driver in Vegas.  I was bombed- we talked Orthodox Christianity, good times.

I expect to be able to do so within the next couple of years. I also forgot one, Bhutan, so i'm actually on 90.... althought the Nauru one was quite weak; my mum's family lived there when she was young. I don't know any ethnic Nauruans.

I can.  Although most of them have been through my line of work, in which I encounter dozens of foreign travelers every week.

I was gonna say, once you start getting over 120 countries in the biz, you start hitting people like Andorrans, and they are Freaks with a capital F in the sack.

Well the question was met.  I haven't traveled as much as I would like but still have probably been to 20 countries.  If you live in a major city you can bump into people from 100 countries on a subway ride.

There's no way of telling, but quite a lot. Uni plus spending over two months in hospital would account for most of that.

If you don't count the United States, it would be 3 for me.  England, Germany, Saudi Arabia.

EDIT:  Add to that, Canada, Nepal, India, Bangladesh, Cameroon, South Korea, Japan, Malaysia, Vietnam, and Russia.  So, a total of 13.  My vote for 1-5 is a mistake.

I took a blank map of the world and started filling it in.  Even then, I later remembered I missed Moldova and Belarus, so I'm up to 53.

Edit: and Thailand -- 54.  Yeah, of course it's impossible to remember all of them.

Depends what you mean by 'met'. When in Toronto I spend two minutes talking to a Somali taxi driver; does that count? Also there are many people who I have met who are clearly not native English speakers where I don't know where they are from.

Anyway the answer is loads. I wouldn't even know where to start guessing - especially considering that in my case alot of these people I would have met when I was alot younger.

I'll probably forget a bunch.

Canada, US, Mexico, Costa Rica, Honduras, Cuba, Jamaica, Dom Rep, Venezuela, Peru, Chile, Brazil, Argentina, UK, Ireland, anywhere in continental Europe except the really tiny places (Liechtenstein, Andorra, Monaco, San Marino) - and except Latvia and Estonia, it seems. EDIT: And Moldova - Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Mali, Senegal, Guinea, Ghana, Cote d'Ivoire, Sierra Leone, Togo, Nigeria, Cameroon, Sudan, Eritrea, Ethiopia, DR Congo, South Africa, Namibia, Turkey, Georgia, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Palestine, Israel, Bahrain, UAE, Oman, Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kirgizstan, Pakistan, India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand, China, Mongolia, South Korea, Japan.

Let's see, many of these people are first generation immigrants who live in the US:

North America and Carribean: Canada, Mexico

Europe: Ireland, UK (Wales and England), Germany, Italy, Finland,

Asia: China, India, Pakistan, Taiwan (I have met lots of second generation Japanese immigrants, but never 1st gen)

Pacific: New Zealand, Philippines (I've probably met an Australian, but I don't remember)

South America: Brazil

Africa: South Africa

Not many different countries, but geographically diverse.
