If this was another state I'd make fun of a candidate named Andrzejewski

just the block of four consonants "NDRZ" is cute, we don't have many Poles or slavs out here in California

Day 4 complete and Muon 2 will definitely add this to his list.

One new statewide Candidate.  Former State Rep. Robin Kelly is a Democratic candidate for State Treasurer.

Can Judy Baar Topinka make a comeback after the ignominy of losing to Rod Blagojevich?

JBT is perfectly capable of making a comeback despit losing to Rod Balgojevich in 2006.  This is the State Comptroller office.  It's not like it's going to be the numero uno most followed race in Illinois.

I've updated the list through Friday's filings. The Green party slate came in today. Monday is the last day for filings and that will include the remaining GOPs along with those who are trying for the bottom position on the ballot.

So do the Republicans have anyone serious for Treasurer, Attorney General, or Secretary of State? I can understand giving up on trying to take down Madigan or White, but Treasurer is an open seat.

Also, which Republican has the inside track for Lt. Governor?

Sen. Dan Rutherford will be filing for Treasurer. He ran for SoS four years ago and built a decent statewide organization then. He should run a strong campaign this time.

Robert Enriquez filed for SoS and Steve Kim should be filing for AG, but these posts are difficult to gain against an incumbent, especially without candidate name recognition.

The filing deadline was at 5 pm CST today. The top post now reflects the complete list of all statewide candidates for the 2/2/10 primary from the three qualified parties. The next critical dates are:

Monday Nov 9: Last day to withdraw from an office when two or more offices were sought. Candidates who filed for more than one office must withdraw from the excess offices or they can be disqualified from all of the offices. This is also the last day to file challenges to the petitions of candidates.

Thursday Nov 12: Last date for the lottery to determine ballot placement for those candidates who filed at 8:00 on the first day of filing, Oct 26.

In campaign news Quinn offered a TV ad truce to Hynes for the Dem primary race for Gov. Hynes rejected the truce as a "stunt".

Looking at the Statewide IL Races.
Lisa Madigan will get re-elected Attorney General and Jesse White will get re-elected as Secretary of State. Robin Kelly will get elected Treasurer-replacing Alexi Giannoulias. Raja Krishnamoorthi will get elected Comptroller-replacing Dan Hynes. whoever wins the Democratic primary in the Governors race- Hynes or Quinn-wins in November.
Regarding the US Senate Race. Giannoulias-D has alot of money and has won Statewide in the past but Hoffman-D has alot of Governmental experience and is considered a straightshooter. The biggest question is who plays well in Downstate IL. We know the Black Voters from Chicago will go to Jackson, The White voters from the Cook County suburbs and the Collar Counties will split between Giannoulias and Hoffman. Hoffman comes from Jewish and Puerto Rican Descant- -that may also give him some appeal to Hispanic voters in IL.

Many of the objections have been resolved, with some staying on the ballot and some withdrawing. I've updated the list to reflect the current status.

13 people running for Lieutenant Governor.  That's pretty funny if you ask me.  To quote a Libertarian Candidate for that office (who wanted to do away with the office all together) "The Lieutenant Governor does nothing except sit there and become Governor if the sitting Governor is incapacitated, dies, or goes to jail."  That last option is pretty popular in Illinois lately, so these 13 are all willing to take that risk that they will get promoted.  One of the Dem candidates-Cohen-is saying he will spend three million of his own money to capture the office.  Someone described it as a very expensive 'scratch and win' card that Cohen would be purchasing.

Ed Scanlon got bounced off the ballot in the Democratic primary for Governor today.  The petition challenges against Art Turner and Thomas Castillo in the Dems race for Lite Guv were overturned as well, so they will stay on the ballot.
