I would like 5 campaign tokens and 11 bonus tokens please.

In addition, I will join Mikado and pledge to run a clean campaign as well. I will only use attack tokens, although an unspecified number, against those that use them against me.

EDIT: Good to see Quentin Quinn join the clean campaign initiative.

EDIT 2: Good to see Zachary Zuckerman join the clean campaign initiative.

Why are just about all the attack tokens againest me? lol

Always hurts to be the first to go negative. You can always edit your post and join the clean campaigners.

Ran the numbers:

Lopez (The Mikado): 32.81%, 18 delegates
Goldsmith (benconstine): 28.64%, 15 delegates
Xiao (Xahar): 22.03%, 12 delegates
Zuckerman (Sewer Socialist): 10.86%
Quinn (HappyWarrior): 4.54%
Finch (Al): 1.12%

Was I left out of the party?

What's more, other candidates have different kinds of advantages, which potentially spill over to the general election campaign as well.

Does this mean that Lopez will get an additional bonus in states with a large number of hispanic voters, for example (by which I mean greater than the regional bonus)? Just a question... and now for a comment - I think this game is working really well! Great game machine/formula!

For that matter, do I get a bonus in South Carolina for the color of my skin?

(Out of character) The Xiao campaign hired Strategic Vision as their pollster, and SV's random number generator was acting funky.  Tongue

(Out of character) By acting funky, you mean made up. Wink

(In character) "Tim Taylor for President" roundly rejects the legitimacy of this poll, sponsored by its opponents to mislead the residents of Iowa. This attempt to deceive the voters serves only to solidify Tim as the best choice for Iowans when they go to their caucuses this week.

Our prior internal polls had a typo. This has been rectified below.

Lopez (The Mikado): 26.87%, 14 delegates
Goldsmith (benconstine): 23.46%, 12 delegates
Taylor (Purple State): 18.1%, 10 delegates
Xiao (Xahar): 18.04%, 9 delegates
Zuckerman (Sewer Socialist): 8.89%
Quinn (HappyWarrior): 3.72%
Finch (Al): 0.91%

Slightly too close to the full 100%. Nate Silver would have a field day.

Will we have to play each state individually for multi-state primary days? Or will it be all together?

I wish I could say 'yes' to those questions and enhance the realism, but alas, there would simply be too much work and detail involved to keep it accurate and fair.

The names and appearances of the candidates are simply to give the appearance of diversity, and to make things slightly more interesting for the players.  They don't actually have any real impact on the game itself in terms of how the results are calculated.

Fair enough. More wishful thinking than anything else. Wink

When does this close?

As soon after 8.47am Eastern tomorrow as I'm able to get online.  While the thread is locked, you'll be unable to edit your posts.

By the way, I'm loving the 'internal polls' you guys are 'publishing'.  Smiley

Will edits after that time be counted? Or will everything be counted up until you close the thread?

This is more than you have Xahar. You can only escalate to as high as you had at the beginning of the round. Recent donations don't count.

I'll let these results sink in before announcing the start of the next stage.  Smiley

I believe your math is off and I come in second.

7670 + 3068 - 1534 = 9104 (you did + rather than -).

So Xahar tries to double cross me and ends up losing more credits than he would have otherwise. I am genuinely amused. Tongue

EDIT: Joe, could you make rounds end closer to 11pm in the future, that way Xahar can actually sleep (someone went to bed at 5:30am last night for a game)? Also, if we could avoid Friday night (after 4pm) ends for primaries, that would be appreciated for religious reasons. Smiley

No problem.  Due to the latter request, if I start the next stage tonight, I'll finish it on Saturday morning instead, which will give you all just over three days.  Unless all candidates post instructions beforehand, that is.

Friday night and Saturday day (until 5:30pm or so) is all the Sabbath. If it's too difficult to accommodate it's fine.

Does not compute.

First, that was only for the first state, because of the nature of Iowa. Second, let's not talk about double-talk Xahar.

I wasn't expecting the endorsements and did plan to simply move on, but I will honor my colleagues for their trust and continue on.

Thank you.

Just to let you know, you fail at math. Wink Using exclusively campaign tokens is mathematically inferior and there is actually a formula to all of this.

I will drop out and give my endorsement to Tim Taylor.

I thank my colleague for the endorsement.

Well, yeah, I know that, but campaign tokens have certain advantages.

Yes, especially as the race gets smaller, such as when only two people contest Michigan.

Super Tuesday is going to be a token-palooza unless Joe has some special rules ready for it.

So there are eleven states at the moment and you have given each of us one campaign token in each state free of charge. So I am automatically in each contest, but still have 15 tokens?
