I'm not going to make fun of these, but these were obviously carefully constructed to launch right after the election, and also, Paterson has hired Ickes, an incredibly influential fellow in the NYC labor union circles...

While Paterson is still more likely than not to be shoved aside one way or the other in a primary [he doesn't even have African-American support over Cuomo], he is taking his reelection seriously.

I find those ads good. I've always liked him personally, even if he won't be re-elected and I wouldn't vote for him.

What is it with Republicans expressing sympathies for Governor Paterson? Us Democrats don't even favor his return to office. He's been terrible for New York and has demonstrated inability to lead. He is a man that can not adequately fix the state's problems. I would probably vote for even Rudy over him if I were a New Yorker, and this is coming from someone who support Ed Rendell twice, and Bob Casey Jr.

I thought both of those ads were very good - especially the first one.

What is it with Republicans expressing sympathies for Governor Paterson?

Well, he's governed somewhat conservative economically for a Democratic governor and has been willing to make extremely unpopular decisions to balance the budget...

personally, I admire him for his sense of humor, which is world-class for politicians.  I mean, there are some great videos out there if you know NY politics and whatnot, but just when he said that he might run for president after Obama because "Once you go black, you never go back" is enough to pretty much earn my vote for life.

I'll admit it, I like Paterson. I think he's a good guy. He was thrown into the position of Governor, and probably wasn't quite ready for it. While I wouldn't support him over a Republican, I think he'd be much better his 2nd term, if he somehow won.
