The initial filing is summary enough.

I haven't read the article, but I firmly support Simfan's efforts to blame Lena Dunham for our society's rot.

Anyone want to summarize Tweed's "case" for me? I have no desire to trudge through his nonsense, particularly as I'm sure that he's getting off on the idea of dozens of people reading it.
Basically, Tweed is upset that he lost the election, and so he is filing a legal claim on the basis that Atlasia elected a president who will not protect the general welfare of the people, and so therefore the court must appoint the candidate who supposedly does; that being, Tweed himself.

I have but three letters to say:
LOL
Seriously though, even if it is frivolous as all hell, Tweed's suit is simply a stroke of genius.
I will reappear (very briefly) from my extended walk into the sunset to echo this. Leave it to the true creator of the very idea of Atlasia to provide such a brilliant effort to return excitement to the game.
Quote from: Senator Seatown on June 26, 2012, 12:47:26 am
I would support the lawsuit if it leads to a reset of Atlasia(constitutional convention), not just an amendment.
As the chair of the two previous Constitutional Conventions and author of the current Constitution, I can tell you that the idea of a "true reset" is nonsense that is peddled every few months. The game thrives on its history--one that includes many of the greatest posters this forum has ever seen. That is why the Boss's suit is so sound. You don't really want a reset... you want a shakeup. That's what this is and I support it.

How funny would it be if the Court heeded Tweed's advice re: Napoleon but instead appointed clarence?

Or some random person entirely? Seriously though, I would be no less opposed to the court if they did that. However Tweed's argument falls apart if it does not involve him.

Same here. This whole thing is actually angering me. I'd just love to see it blow up in Tweed's face haha.

Well, our democracy did not completely crumble today with the Court's two rulings.
The IDS ruling is a shame. It would seem to set the precedent that Court has the power to stop private citizens from participating in entrepreneurship. A big, big shame.
However, I don't believe it technically has this power. I would urge the companies responsible for the Dibble to continue production of their product. If you get down to the details of it, this practice can exist without a piece of legislation to regulate it.
Ever bought a souvenir coin at a tourist shop? It's the same thing.

The way I interpret the ruling, the only concrete effects are we can't accept it and we can't publicly exchange it. Can we initiate impeachment proceedings now?

The lack of written opinions by all Justices, not having recused themselves, is something I find to be disturbing.
Something I plan to keep in mind during future confirmation hearings for Justices.

I am bringing this up, because I tend to think there might be some kind of reactions to the court rulling. I would have done it sooner but I was busy torturing some Committee Chairmen.

Perhaps it would advantageous to ask for this to be stikied?
