I think 8 points is a bit too much.  More in the 3-5 range.  But still, it is a Bush lead in a poll following the last debate.

It's an inappropriate thread b/c the info could have been posted in an existing thread on polling.

If Bush wins, I don't believe it will be by 8 points.

My prediction made a few weeks ago was 51% Bush, 47% Kerry and 2% others, mostly Nader.  I think Bush will get a little over 300 electoral votes.

Time will tell.

Let me guess, another crazy party ID swing for Gallup?
Toss it in the trash.

I read an article by Abramovitz (an academic) who urges caution with Gallup polls. He points out that their registered voter numbers are usually more accurate than their likely voter numbers when it comes to voting. Therefore, I suspect a 3% Bush lead among registered voters is closer to the truth.

If Bush is up by 8 following three straight defeats in the debates, then my mind boggles!

That first debate saw the man reduce the office of the Presidency to ridicule.

Zogby polls haven't been too bad for Bush of late. He was 4-up the other day!

It's open to debate (no pun intended) that Bush lost the last two debates.  Yes, as debates go from an academic standard, he lost.  But politically, he didn't blunder.  On the other hand, Kerry never followed through.  More likely, most who saw the last two debates probably felt neither won.  That's what many folks have said to me.  The President gets the nod in such a situation, because he has nothing to prove.  The challenger must carry the burden forward, not just stand still.  As for VP debate, Cheney clearly delivered a decisive blow to Edward's sounding Vice-presidential.  Edwards does not yet seem to have recovered.  Any thoughts about the above  out there?

another contrast to Reagan's old signature: Jessica Simpson is a stupid airhead, Eliza Dushku is not.
